Zookeeper/World Safari - Must haves?

Post by Shingetsu » October 28th, 2015, 10:33 am

Hello!

Up till now I have been super lazy when it comes to collecting wild pets. But I want to get it all done before the next pet battle bonux exp event.

Now I'm wondering if there are any pet+breed combination, which you guys would call "must have".

Here is a list of the pets mentioned in guides all over WCP:

Amber Moth P/S
Axebeak Hatchling P/P
Blighthawk H/H or H/P
Clouded Hedgehog B/B
Cogblade Raptor S/S
Crow S/S
Electrified Razortooth
Emerald Proto-Whelp P/P
Emperor Crab P/P
Eternal Strider P/S
Flayer Youngling S/S
Gilded Moth P/S
Grasslands Cottontail S/S
Infinite Whelpling P/P
Junglebeak P/P
Minfernal H/H
Nether Faerie Dragon P/P + S/S
Nexus Whelpling P/P + P/S
Polly P/S
Rapana Whelk
Scourged Whelpling H/H
Silky Moth S/B
Spawn of Onyxia P/P
Spirit Crab
Unborn Val'kyr - H/H or B/B
Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling P/P
Yellow Bellied Frog P/P

But maybe you guys know some other "must haves" too? I'm curious.

Thanks in advance!

Something I'm not clear on: if you're doing Zookeeper, you want them all. Are you looking for a short list of prominent wild pets, or just recommended breeds?

Anyway, some first reaction additions on seeing your list:

I'd take a H/P over a P/S Gilded Moth any day. My H/P Gilded is my "anchor moth". :)

Apart from the S/S Cottontail, which is a must-have, you also want a 357 speed rabbit. Maybe you have a Spring Rabbit, but from the wild, an S/S Rabbit or Alpine Hare will also do.

Alpine Foxling S/S
Leopard Tree Frog S/S
Blighted Squirrel H/P
Infected Squirrel H/P
Kun-Lai Runt P/P
Mud Jumper or Swamp Croaker (for Bubble)
Nordrassil Wisp S/S
Qiraji Guardling S/S P/P (out of season atm)

Let's see: we've covered Moths, Frogs, Rabbits, Fox... you probably want a Spider.
Skittering Cavern Crawler S/S or Amethyst Spiderling H/P or Feverbite Hatchling P/P. Personally, I don't recall ever needing a fast spider.

I have skipped over lots of pets I like here, in the interest of keeping the list manageable, and I've probably forgotten some, but I can definitely recommend all the above.

[Edit: oops; you already had Scourged Whelpling]

Eheh, Paladance; for a minute I didn't recognise you as a moth. :P

I'd call it "while you're at it, make sure to grab a ..."-list :)

Thanks for the recommendations so far.

And also thanks @Paladance - will sure have a look at this website.

Too light for an usually strong presence, isn't it? Maybe an Alemental would be better?
Or an Ulduar pet from hypothetical RwL IV. ^^
Back in time I planned to create a US starter character with that name for their forums, but apparently I'd need to have a second WoW directory. ;/

@Shingetsu The only thing I'm afraid is that not all groups are implemented yet. Rufa doesn't keep a changelog so I'm not sure how is he. :(

By the way, a P/P Bloodbeak seems to be interesting.

Ah. OK. So you're going for them all, but you want breed suggestions.

That website Paladance cited was what I used when finishing my collection.

Not only did I use it for looking up my own options, but I also plugged in the characters of some prominent battlers like Discodoggy and Chibimage to see what breeds they had chosen.

When it comes to Snakes and Rabbits, for which there are Chromie-only-knows how many pets with the same moveset, and breeds, you know you want the fastest, and you know you want the most powerful, and that site does help clarify.

As Paladance says, the site may not be updated with new pets, but it is still definitive for the existing wild pets.
