Lunker fishing question

Been trying to fish for lunkers for a while now. I tried for about 45 minute inside the garrison but only caught one of the murloc type guys that dropped a sack of fishing goodies. Once I moved out to the zones themselves I was getting 1 lunker an hour or so. I mix it up some so that I can have a variety of fish to try for lil leftover.

The question is, has anyone ever caught a lunker in the garrison waters or is it for sure not ever going to show up there?

I like the garrison waters because with the specific lure you can pretty much catch what ever you want there without having to move. With the fishing shack at level 3 you can even get enormous fish while in the garrison.

No lunkers from garrison waters, from what I've read (and experienced). Only inland Draenor (non-garrison) waters have the chance, and ONLY when Nat Pagle is assigned to the shack (learned THAT the hard way, lol!)

El says no Lunkers in Garrison waters.

Thanks for the quick responses, I did check El's but must have skimmed over the part about no lunkers in garrison waters. I suppose that would be to easy.

Bummer really, because I was hoping to catch more of those Murloc type dudes at the same time.

I've been reading some mixed comments about fishing skill. What's your fishing skill when you're fishing up lunkers? At El's angling someone commented that with 1100+ fishing you would get lunkers more efficiently. Also, how much faster is it to get lunkers from coins vs. from the mob that spawns from the fish thrown into your garrison lake? I think those fish were quite fast to get, but then again there's only one coin / spawn, I got 4 coins from 4 kills, but don't know if it's a 100% drop or not.

What luck you have! I can say with certainty that it's not 100% droprate. I fish up quite a few green ones from the garrison each week to restock on bait and the time-duration hat/pole, but I don't always receive a coin from the mob that spawns.

I don't have the numbers or any significant testing to back this so it's purely anecdotal, but I do seem to catch lunkers more regularly with higher fishing (upwards of 1100+).

For me, the best places with the most consistent yield: SMV and Spires of Arak. I don't know if this is a contributing factor or not, but whenever there were multiple people fishing near/in the same waters I saw a better lunker catch rate. Could have just been coincidence too.

In SMV, I've been plagued with "Internal Bag Error" whenever I get a lunker (so I actually can't loot it). No issues with the other zones though. I've not got a coin from the garrison water mob yet on any of my kills, so I agree..not 100%

I am going out to the Spires of Arak and try my luck this weekend. I know some people have had good luck with getting the coins from luring and killing the Murloc in the Garrison pond, but I have killed 6 and not looted one coin.

The other reason I am going for lunkers is so I can also get the rep increase with Nat. I'm at Honored and working towards the Learning from the Best achievement. http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=7274

My luck is that I got those on my main while getting my skill up to 700. My real fisherman is my alt who used to be my main, so all my fishing stuff has been done on that character. So now I pretty much have 4 worthless coins ;)
