Was people really struggling that much with pet batles?

If you mean struggling to stay awake while killing icespine hatchlings over and over, then I was definitely struggling. There's nothing challenging or difficult about grinding wild pet battles. This is definitely a good change. It should never have gone live at 500 -- the only bad part about this change is that many people have already ground out this achieve and have therefore wasted their time on 350 extra useless pet battles.

I wonder if they lowered the amount needed for the Monument as well. 1800 battles won so far so i will be extremely pissed if they did><

One could make the same argument for Draenor Angler, with the x700 enormous fishes needed.

Did they change Angler too? I just got it on Sunday... figures. Though I didn't think Angler was as time consuming as the Pet Battle one.

I found the angler one much faster than the pet battle one. That said..lunkers are stinky.

I just knocked off the fishing one last night and I only started it a couple of days ago. For me at least that seemed more doable than grinding through a bunch of meaningless pet battles. At least with fishing I got my skill level to 700 and now I have enough mats for all my alts to level up first aid and cooking!

Thats a change that suits me as i have done about 200 pet battles by the time i finished draenor safari and started killing the hatchlings to level all the new pets.

I have over 100 battles and I didn't even leave Frostfire Ridge until I dinged 100. That is just from doing a few random battles while questing - I only have about 5 new wild pets captured so far so have barely even started into the expansion. Wasn't expecting the 500 to be any kind of problem, so I'm a bit surprised they have nerfed it that hard.

awesome. i have about 90 done, so much to do to prepare for raids i didnt have time to grind and each day im missing out on a pet i could have! awesoem change, it never should have been 500, thats insane.

Either way, it's a bit hard to see their thinking here.

Either:
They had the achievement planned this way for months, and just after expansion release they had a change of heart and decided 500 battles is too difficult (poor planning)

or:
They had the achievement planned this way for months, and after just two weeks of the expansion being live they gave in to those complaining and changed it (appeasement of the few)

Now they need to adjust the monument down to 500.

Wow....I feel a little sick to my stomach. I got the achievement last week and they reduced the requirement already. And not just a little; from 500 to 150 is a HUGE reduction.

The only thing that could make me feel better about this is if they drop the PvP pet battle requirement for the Stunted Direhorn down as well.

I haven't really started doing this achievement at all or even collecting the wild pets. It seems to me off hand like if you are making any effort to capture wild pets as rares that 150 battles will be almost automatic. There's 26 new pets so 150 battles is less than 6 battles per wild pet to try to get a rare which seems pretty lucky. Not to mention you'll probably be doing some Menagerie battles too. At 150 it's pretty much automatic if your doing anything pet related. 500 was a bit and did would take some effort I'm sure but I'm not sure it was completely unreasonable. Not a quick grind but not unreasonable when trying to capture rares or leveling some pets/doing pet pvp. If I remember correctly it was 1000 initially in beta so it had already been lowered once. In the end I like the change since it will make it easy for me to get.
