The fox pet that you buy from the vendor is exactly the same as the one that drops from the baradin fox, so I'd strongly recommend going the vendor route. I farmed mine pre-vendor and I just remember it taking absolutely forever.

I farmed for like 2 hours (edit: maybe longer... it's a blurr haha) and didn't get it. Faced with even more farming or ~2 weeks of dailies (almost as much as a mount) for it, I opted to just pick it up off the AH. :/ Tbh, doing that many dailies was even less appealing to me than continuing to farm, and gold just isn't that hard with garrisons, etc etc.

I spent months after months in Cata killing these poor fox trying to get the pet to drop. I was so happy when they became purchasable from the vendor. You are much better off doing the dailies for tokens and purchasing the pet that way.
