Turn 1 - apply
Turn 2 - 4 round timer
Turn 3 - 3 round timer
Turn 4 - 2 round timer
Turn 5 - 1 round timer, goes off at end of round
It goes off in five rounds if you count the round it's applied. Seems to work the same way as other delayed damage abilities like Stun Seed and Geyser.

I'm also planning to upgrade either a P/P or H/P Sporeling Sprout soon, and am curious which people prefer and why.
