Re: major payne
In my experience (I have the "Tamer" title) he's the worst one, possibly because he's the first time you face elite level 25's. I do it with a Darkmoon Zeppelin (Decoy), (rare) Arctic Hare (Dodge and Burrow), and (rare) Snow Cub (lots of damage). Seems mostly to depend on what pets we both start wit...

Re: Leveling Undead is so annoying
A lot of it depends on the talents of the specific pet, too; for example, leveling my Lost of Lordaeron (it's 25 now) wasn't bad once I got the "Absorb" skill. Even against nasty horrible critters, when you combine "Siphon Life" and "Absorb" you can usually outlast them; against anything non-critter...

Re: Looking for a certain attack...
Yep, it's the Terrible Turnip. You can only get it by a) buying it in the AH or b) growing it yourself. If you plant what Jogu (the "drunken fish" guy) tells you to, rarely you will get an Ominous Seed. When you plant it, you'll get a Terrible Turnip!

Re: You no take carrot! You take (terrible) turnip instead!
Having now grown my turnip , I can say yes, the seed is a drop from your crops. Rumor has it that you have a better chance of getting it if you plant the "crop of the day" from Jogu (the "listen to the drunken fish" guy). Like everything else it takes a day to grow.

Re: Favorite Team!
While I do like the battles with the ones that have cool abilities (one likes to win, one does), I've been accumulating all the pets I can get. I've found that sometimes there's more there than you might think. For example - if you have a "Curious Oracle Hatchling", open your pet battle window and m...

I got the Feral Vermling and the Jade Tentacle the same way, no notice or mailing, it just showed up in the list.

Re: You no take carrot! You take (terrible) turnip instead!
I have heard rumors that you most often get the Ominous Seed when you harvest the "crop of the day" (from the drunken fish guy). I've started trying that, but no luck yet.

Favorite Team!
So what's your lineup? What do you like to use? My current favorite team: Pet Bombling, Darkmoon Zeppelin, Lost of Lordaeron (rare). The two mechanicals are good vs. beasts and critters (because of their varied attacks), and the life-stealing undead is good against almost everything else (especially...

Re: Pet Battle Damage Modifiers by Family
OK, from what I can tell, the modifier (at least as currently implemented) is for the attack type vs. the target pet family; the attacking pet's family doesn't seem to influence it. So a magic pet using an undead attack against an aquatic pet is a "weak" attack, a magic pet using a flying attack vs....

Re: Pet Battle Tamers Information
I found Aki the Chosen (Grand Master Pet Tamer) in Pandaria (Vale of Eternal Blossoms), on the edge of The Summer Fields lake. She was walking around with her three level 25 elite pets. Has anyone noticed if all Grand Master Pet Tamers have elite pets? Or perhaps just the highest level (25) ones? A...

Re: Pet Battle Damage Modifiers by Family
I know it's modified by the attack type, so using that example a flying pet using an undead attack mode would be doing a weak attack; I've noticed this in particular because I use a fair number of mechanicals with beast attack modes, and they're always "strong" against critters, with their mechanica...

Re: Rare's Health
Just confirming the above. I have the "Quality and Quantity" achievement, and it's not unusual for an uncommon pet with high (for uncommon) hp to have more than a rare with low (for rare) hp. The other stats make up for it.

Re: Wild Pets by Zone (Outland)
So far I have only found Flayer Younglings on the ridge betwen Terrokar and HFP. I've only seen one or two there at a time, though; maybe a slow spawn rate.
Edit -- maybe one of the patches changed it, but now I've found many of them there. Finally captured a rare...

Re: Wild Pet Spawning Conditions
Since they've implemented cross-realm "sharing", there are phasing issues with several pets (e.g. minfernal in Felwood, flayer youngling in Hellfire Peninsula). We'll just have to see how it works out...

Re: Day 1, All Rare, All Families
Hmm, hadn't realized the Quiraji guardling was humanoid. Have to go get one now... I wonder if "Summer" will officially be over by the time the xpac's released (or if they'll still be available for real). All the purchased pets as "rare" quality? That seems... unfortunate... to me. Ah well, I'm stil...

Re: Day 1, All Rare, All Families
That is changing. Some of the non-wild pets are having their rarities upgraded. Sort of. What's happening is that the stats of the non-captured pets are being adjusted, so that they're more in line with their world-rarity. E.g., anyone can get a Guardian Cub easily, so they have stats like a "commo...

Re: Day 1, All Rare, All Families
I'm not sure you're getting what the "rarity" means in regard to pet battles. I've been having fun (i.e. somewhat obsessed) with it. It's not how difficult it is to find/get the pet, it's the quality of the specific pet you get. The "drop", reward, and Blizzard-bought pets all seem to be standardize...
