I have found Grip of Terror, and Vile Deathroach as primary pets. The only pet I *believe* that I haven't found as a primary is the Mawrat.

Are you sure the pet isn't doing an ability that causes itself damage? I have seen quite a few pets in SL do this, especially in the new zone.
