As of 6.0:

 

 

1) Haunt does not work during the undead free turn.  I assume it doesn't work because the Val'kyr cannot die as part of the attack's effect.  Could be a bug but why now?

 

 

2) Debuffs on the Val'kyr go into a frozen state when it has used Haunt.  You can't avoid things like Curse of Doom or other timed effects on your Val'kyr by using Haunt and staying dead for the remainder of any debuff's duration.

 

It's still powerful but these are pretty critical to note right now.

And then, you know... for every other pet...?  Kun-Lai runt is a monster.  Requires no team support, stands tall on his own.  Low speed offset by slowing with frost shock, follow up with stun, and then slammed in the face for double damage with takedown.  Attacks are accurate and powerful.  Human racial restores your health every turn during your '3-turn combo'.  Often straight up KOs.

It might not be the easiest pet to get, but if you are serious about battling and levelling your pets, you CANT go without the Magical Crawdad.  I would argue this guy is the single most useful pet in the game for blowing through single-player content and it can even SOLO a couple of pandaria trainers. Wish being a ridiculously great heal, a huge health pool to abuse said heal, shell armor to basically nullify stampedes and other DoTs - this immovable wall will make your game EZ mode.
