There are two ways to deal with a suicidal pet.. If scorched earth is your problem, bring on pets that have their own weather effects. The other method is to just surrender and restart the battle until the pet does not have the suicidal-type attack in their list.

I just got a level 14 Leopard Scorpid, only Uncommon, but boy was I surprised to see him. Right on the border between Uldum and Tanaris...

Is it possible that these are linked to the Dalaran Summoners? I've been killing rats all day, no other pets have spawned.
