This is the first Nazjatar pet i collected - i got him in the starting area scenario - yes, i actually did a pet battle (3 in fact!) while Lor'themar was pining over Blightcaller's absence!

 

i can confirm that they do indeed spawn on their own.  The 3 pet battles i did in the opening scenario were all this pet as the "main."

They do indeed spawn on their own as well. Found two at first Horde FP at ~36.4 ,82.0

I found him on party of Bloodseeker, Glimmershell Scuttler, Greater Sea Albatross, Muck Slugger and Spireshell Snail. But him spawn too around New Town / Inicitial zone.

I found this one outside the the first main city on its own. I dont have coords because I was too focused on the story but keep an eye out they do spawn on their own.
