Notes:
Blizzard has introduced a new biennial event (even years) called The Spirit of Competition to commemorate the Olympic Games. Throughout the event in 2008, this pet was randomly mailed to players who were victorious after any PvP battleground. There was a 1 in 8 chance it would be mailed to a player for each battleground won.

Breanni Says:

This little dragon surely embodies the spirit of competition. One might even say that he lights the Olympic Torch! Eh? Eh? *crickets* Ahhhh, we're having fun now...

The one thing i've always wondered about this pet is, why, if the event is repeatable every Even year, is it a FoS. Either they added it becaus it's only obtained every 2 years OR every event will have a new pet, i'm hoping for 2nd, anyone else any thoughts?

In response to Netzty, I'm thinking and hoping that every Olympics will bring a new pet tailored to the theme of that country's Olympic games. They picked a Chinese Dragon for the Beijing games. The 2010 Winter Games are in Vancouver and the 2012 Summer Games are in London. I have no clue on what potential pets they would choose for either of those cities.... well a tiny maple leaf could be neat :)

Reply to JonoHexx: Sometimes plants show up as pets, so I'd be willing to bet a thistle (seen on the binder of Encyclopedia Britannica, for example) would be a good candidate durring the upcoming London games. According to lore, a surprise invasion on the ancient British Isles was discovered when one of the barefoot soldiers stepped on a thistle and let out a scream.

Hmm if the pets are related to the country of origin my vote is for a Beaver for canada in 2010 and a Badger for UK in 2012 all though a Bull Dog would probably work too. Got to love this pet its the only chinese dragon available outside of Asia.

I hope we will get an elk or tiny seal for Vancouver. But for London....i dont know. Maybe a version of the mascot of the summer games. whatever it is.

The only pet I have on an alt that my main does not have; so I'm not sure if I want them to bring it back or do a new pet for the next Olympics. I just know I hated all the PVP I did—with no pet to show for it—on my main (and I don't want to go through that again).

Well for the Canadian one maybe a moose? For England a bulldog would be sweet.

I wonder what the pet would be for the 2016 games in Rio. I was also thinking that for the 2010 games in Vancouver, the pet could be a Murlock in a hockey uniform.

I hate this pet. Now before I get flamed for that, let me explain.
When I first started playing WoW, I had one toon. When the Olympics came around I pushed my hardest to get this little guy. One of the best pets in the game. Hands down.
About a month later, I realized that I sucked at playing a warrior and started up a shaman, who became my main toon. Now everytime I log on to my warrior (he's been down-graded to banker) I'm reminded that my main will never have this most-awesome of pets.

I love this pet, but I hope that only the tabard remains the same for each Olympics, and we get a new, location-appropriate, pet each time. A moose or beaver for Canada? (We already have a polar bear, obviously.) Maybe a Canadian goose?

A pretty rare and cool pet, this guy looks especially good following a blood elf because of his colors.

I'm sad about this pet. Back when this was going on, Protection Warriors weren't very good in PVP, so I only got this pet on my Shaman. My Warrior is my pet collector, and alas, I will never have it on him.

I talked to a GM to see I could possibly have it switched from my Shaman to my Warrior, and they told me that it wasn't possible because you have to "earn" the pet on each character, so they cannot possibly do it. :(

Now that there's a Perky Pug, they need a new girl pet companion dog. Having a leaf follow you around would be awesome too! I missed this little guy because I was away for a month or two at a grandma's *sigh* Good thing is my dad got on my alt and attained it for my alt..

Does anyone else think it's odd they aren't doing it during the actual event of the Winter Olympics this year? I'm cool they are doing it every two years, but i think it's silly to have it in the summer and not during the winter festivities.

This is my favorite pet out of my collection. I love how it's so unique and colorful! :) It would be great if the pet for the Winter Olympics would be a moose or a bear.

I really like this pet, I had no idea what I had done to deserve him when he turned up in my measily level 15 mages mailbox, and now even at 80 he serves as one of my show-off pets. Just wish they would upgrade him to a flyer as he already hovers above the floor.
