This pet was a free gift for attendess of the 2008 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational. A gift card may be scratched to reveal a code allowing a single character access to this pet. However, the item that teaches the pet's summon spell may be mailed to other characters on the account. The code may be redeemed at Blizzard's promotion retrieval page. The pet may be obtained in-game from Edward Cairne (Undercity) or Ian Drake (Stormwind).

Tyrael responds to the /dance emote by dancing with his owner. As of patch 3.2, he'll also occasionally fall asleep in mid air.

Tyrael likes dancing so much that he dances even when flying. I'm not sure how flying while dancing sideways works but he is an angel. He can also now keep up with the fastest of flying mounts. Not bad little dancer. However, when you /dance with him the little guy can fall asleep in the middle of his dance. I guess even Tyrael can get worn out.

I would love to see some kind of interaction between Tyrael and Diablo, similar to how Grunty and the Zergling pet battle to the death.

Tyrael is from Blizzard's other major fantasy game franchise, Diablo. In Diablo II, he was a major questgiver and the Archangel of Justice.

I love my Tyrael, and the way he scratches his ass while asleep cracks me up every time!

It's also one of the few pets that people still whisper me, asking where I got that "awesome pet". One of my faves, for sure - and the best thing is I was given it by a colleague who went to the Invitational!

My favorite pet and one of my most prized possessions (love Tyrael from DII), I've only seen it twice on my server and still get many questions as to it's source in /w.
Great new idle animations were introduced in a recent patch but unfortunately he retains a very annoying bug that causes him to dance sideways as he moves along instead of his beautiful gliding animation.
The sheer rarity of this pet (and the jealousy it causes) might be enough to explain it's low ranking.
