Source: PLAYER-MADE: Taught by Umi Rumplesnicker - Engineering 250
Rarity: Common
Notes:
Roughly the size of a gnome, this pet is one of the largest of all vanity pets. It may be used by non-engineers. To learn how to make this pet, speak with Umi Rumplesnicker after completing the Are We There Yeti chain of quests. Note that you must be level 55+/engineering 250+ before Umi will offer to train you.

Breanni Says:

Ah, mechanical yeti… my arch nemesis. At long last, we meet again! You're one of the few small pets that mocks my gnomish size. And since everything in Azeroth mocks my size, your nonconformity to the average small pet angers me! You are supposed to be small! You're a small pet! Didn't you get the memo?! Argghh!!! I can't take it anymore!!! *kicks yeti* Yowch!!!!! Ok, Yeti... you win this round. But I'll be back...

I still love my yeti, as a gnome I enjoy pets that look like a buddy.. maybe it helps trick horde into not ganking me thinking there are two of us? Probably not...

I summon my yeti whenever I do the Abominable Greench quest during the winter holidays. I think it reminds my yeti who's boss!

1 Rugged Hide (from skinning)
1 Deeprock Salt

Find a leatherworker who has a Salt Shaker.
Have leatherworker combine the 2 above into a Cured Rugged Hide. Bring it to an engineer along with:

12 Thorium Bars
4 Truesilver Bars
4 Elemental Earths
2 Elemental Airs
2 Globes of Water
4 Runecloths
1 Gold Bar (enough for 3 yetis!)

(Thanks for correction, Kender!)

This yeti used to be pretty rare back in the day. I got mine from a friend as a gift; I kind of wish the spells still bore the name of the person who created it :( I still love taking him out and watching him wiggle his toes!

When I would do the Mechanical Yeti quest in Vanilla WoW and recieve the guardian with 10 charges, I would rarely let him out to defend for me as I didn't want to use him up. It was even worst when doing the quest on new characters as he was nerfed to 3 charges.
Now that he is accessable as a pet from any engineer that has done the pre-quest I can have him run about with me when ever I want. The only downfall is he doesn't attack =/

The first part of the quest chain is easily soloable as a 52, the second part I got some help on. And the materials to make it are supprisingly easy to get, considereing you an engineer with a 250 mining skill or higher and have a bit of cash.

Update to Zenon's recipe list, the Deeprock Salt needs to be Refined Deeprock Salt (leatherworker is only one who can refine, with a Salt Shaker, but make sure the leatherworker can refine it also), and missing is a Globe of Water (two), also required

It's a lot of materials, but he is still generally inexpensive if you can farm any of the mats. He is taller than a gnome and has the added bonus of being a mecha.

I have heard that if you do the quest and abandon engineering (For whatever reason) and learn it again at some point in the future you can relearn it from the quest giver provided your levels are high enough. If this isn't true let me know as I haven't been able to confirm it (Nor do I want to try <.<;)
