Source: DROP: [82+]Apothecary Hummel - Shadowfang Keep
Drop Rate: 1 in 65 (available 14 days per year)
Event Required:
Rarity: Extremely rare
Notes:
Apothecary Hummel is a high level boss that may be summoned in the Shadowfang Keep instance. To summon Hummel, someone in the group must have the quest, [80]You've Been Served (a daily quest available only during Love is in the Air). Hummel may be repeatedly summoned and killed if more than one party member has the quest.

NOTE: The drop rate is an estimate based on previous event boss drop rates.

Breanni Says:

The Toxic Wasteling is a most misunderstood pet. Everyone accuses him of devouring other critters, but they've got it all wrong. This little ball of ooze is filled to the brim with love! That's why he only appears when Love is in the Air. He expresses his heartfelt passion by hugging nearby critters. And when he accidentally smothers the life out of them, he swells with sadness. Either that or gas. Probably gas.
Breanni

This gorgeous veridian blob of gel gradualy grows larger and larger after it "devoured" several critters. Try take it to the Dalaran sewers for a free buffet and watch it grows to the size as large as a gnome. ;)

Though I can't say I've had the pleasure of obtaining this jewel, I can imagine the penguins near the Argent Tournament Grounds would provide him an adequate feast. :)

[edit]: Now that this little bugger is my new best friend, I'd like to add that the the soft bubbling sound he makes is strangely soothing.

Beware of the Blob!
It creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the floor
Right through the door and all around the wall,
A splotch, a blotch,
Be careful of the Blob!

Thanks for the idea Tireanna. I took mine out there and it was a blast. :D

So far I have not been able to get him to eat another minipet. We were quite disappointed when it would not eat my guildie's Argent Squire...

This little slime will eat critters of any size but not other mini pets (that I have found anyway) and will grow in size for the first three critters it eats. It will continue to eat critters after that, but will not get any bigger than about gnome size.

Want to see something REALLY fun? Take it to the crazy cat lady's house in Elwynn forest. It's like Alf, but causes cancer.

Wowhead originally had data to suggest the drop rate was around 25%, but it's now been revised down to around 4% :( See this link.

One interesting thing for blood spec DKs is that if you have blood worms following you, this pet can and will attack and eat them.

I have always been a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it seems that the Toxing Wasteling is more ninja then they could ever be, as he gobbled up the 4 turtles and the rat hiding away in the Sewers of Dalaran.

Anyone else notice that this drops off of Hummel and grows big? Think it may have been a step in the development of Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuits?

Seems to reach full size after eating about three critters. Takes a bit of time for him to lock onto a target, but he certainly doesn't waste any time getting to his victim. The little guy seems awfully fast for a puddle of quasi intelligent Cologne. Another interesting thing to note is that the critters will despawn when consumed instead of leaving a corpse.

Basically this pet is a Katamari- it eats everything that it is big enough to, and slowly increases in size until it can eat larger stuff. Be warned, for one day it will eat Dalaran whole! Kudos to those who understand.

We have a green ooze so I think this one should alternate green and pink (like the Worg Pup when you summon him).

Warcraftpets reports 1/65 droprate. Wowhead reports 4% droprate.
I know a lot of people who didn't get it this first year though, so maybe it's lower. And next year you will only get one shot a day with the new holiday boss change (you will get a bag of spoils for your first kill, but not subsequent ones; so no more buying summons for pet/mount chances).

The Toxic Wasteling will grow once after eating a critter (ANY critter) - up to three times. After this it will continue to eat every critter in sight, but will not grow any larger. (Try having it eat 3 critters and a pet biscuit for maximum volume!)

Fun with guildies: Summon your toxic wasteling, allow it to eat it's fill on critters, toss a Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuit, and watch all your gnome friends flee in terror from the blob that is big enough to eat them.

Seasonal bosses accessible through the Dungeon Finder in 3.3.3 (blizzard post)

"Yes, the Dungeon Finder must be used. The interface will have a separate selection for special World Event bosses in dungeons. If players zone into the dungeon without using the Dungeon Finder, the bosses will not be there. ~Zarhym"

you will have access to all the pets/mount drops by using the LFG tool even if the event is not going on...so good luck to all after patch 3.3.3 is implemented!!

The wasteling will also eat the flesh-eating insects spawned by Putricide's entrance. It's an all-ooze-can-eat buffet!

For those of you who are engineers, this crazy guy will even eat explosive decoys as they are tagged as critters! Great fun in critter lacking dungeons.

I never een saw this guy drop. The drop rate must be VERY low.

My advice for anyone who DID manage to get this lil guy...take him to the Deeprun Tram and watch him go nuts.

@Gwynahveer the best thing to do is just let everyone roll on it, and ask the person who wins to trade it with you for a good amount of cash, that's the way i got him. (don't know if this will still be possible in the next patch, but by god, i do hope so!).
