Source: QUEST: [4]CLUCK!
Rarity: Common
Notes:
This pet was formerly known as 'Prairie Chicken'. As of patch 3.1, horde characters are also able to obtain the CLUCK! quest in the same manner as alliance characters:

Find any chicken critter in Azeroth and repeatedly do the '/chicken' emote to it. Eventually the chicken's name plate will turn from yellow to green and you'll see the message "Chicken looks up at you quizzically. Maybe you should inspect it?" Speak to the chicken and you'll receive the CLUCK! quest. To complete the quest you'll need a bag of Special Chicken Feed (vendor in Westfall for alliance; Tirisfal Glades for horde). When the quest is complete, an egg will spawn. Loot this egg to receive the pet.

Breanni Says:

My shaman picked up one of these birds all the way from Westfall. She was so excited that she decided to spoil her new fowl with some friends. She got him an ancona playmate, but that wasn't enough so she got him a mechanical playmate too! Now she bears the nickname "Chicken Lady" and no, her brain is not the size of a walnut. (That was my homage to 'Kids in the Hall' — thought I'd share that considering only three of you got the reference...)

It took me about 800 /chickens to get this pet. While doing so, I got called a "noob" by about 5 different players. I also got /cheered by several players of the opposing faction who were also trying to get this pet. Which just goes to show -- pet collecting has no boundaries and those who don't understand it, probably never will!

Save your fingers some wear and make a macro to press one key so you can do /chicken repeatedly and quickly. Also, be prepared for funny looks from other players as they watch you try to commune with tasty fowl.

As a horde member, it took some decent pantomime to get me and my sister this pet. Lots of /pointing, /chickening, and /begging before that silly hunter got the message. Course, He may have just been confused by the big 80 warlock begging at his feet and decided to revel in the situation, who knows how allies think these days

Quickest way to complete this quest is to buy the chicken feed beforehand and prepare a macro with as many lines of /chicken as you can fit in. You may also want to do your chicken ritual away from a crowd of people, because you will fill the chat channels with spam.

Back before horde had easier access to this I managed to get one using the /point, /chicken, and /beg emotes with passing lowbies in Westfall. Had a fun dance party with some alliance druids. Also had a little /cry moment when a hunter got confused and shot all the chickens.

The "Cluck" quest is both shareable and repeatable--I try to have it on all my toons so I can share it with pet collectors who do not have it. Also amusing to share in pugs :)

Before Horde could get this I spent a couple of fun afternoons on my Ally getting it for random hordies in the Barrens. I'd /wave, /point at the chicken and /offer and if they seemed interested /beckon them over to the chickens on that farm near the river and get them an egg.

I was actually a little disappointed when the Horde version appeared, because I enjoyed my little moments of surreal goodwill.

if you put the /cluck into a macro it takes like 5 min. to get.
also get chicken feed BEFORE!! doing the quest. Finally this pet's quest is repeatable

HUGE WORD OF ADVICE: Make sure your quest log is NOT FULL. Mine was, and after several hundred /chickens, I finally got the quest. It said my log was full, and I had to start over. I was also doing it in the barrens... so I went all the way to Brill to get the feed. I only got one, and when I went to my chicken, I accidently ate my feed instead of feeding the chicken (dont ask how) So also buy several things of feed incase you mess up like me.

it really helped having my macros prepared and ready with feed in hand and for those with self esteem issuses do it in brill at somewhere between 5 and 7 in the morning. there is always a chiken in the graveyard and few people are on lowbies that early... also have a macro that says somthing like "if i keep clucking it gives me a pet or somthin along those lines to explain your odd behavior... expect like 400 clicks on you chiken macro

I'm surprised not to see more Alliance chars with this pet. It's easy to obtain, free (save for the chicken feed) AND gives one quest completion in Eastern Kingdoms.

Although it IS funny to have people laugh at you while /chickening, only to parade by them later with the chicken out and laughing at THEM. :D

IMPORTANT! (THIS IS FOR ALLIANCE)
This quest can ONLY be completed with a Westfall chicken! I spent hours (/flap)ing at chickens outside Goldshire, until eventually someone whispered to tell me it had to be completed in Westfall.

This is actually quite convienient - use a chicken on Saldean's farm, then you can buy the feed straight after :D

Hope this helps :D

Contrary to popular belief any chicken will work and turning the quest in does not have to be the same chicken! (Technically there is only one Chicken NPC that is placed all over the place)

Took me at least 500 clucks to get this. The locals, who happened to be lower levels thought I was spamming until I explained. Then they ended up doing it as well! It was funny. I will admit, I got aggravated with the first two, and killed them, only to move on to a less... crowded chicken. that one only took me like 100.

With the macro, it only took me three tries. Unfortunately I didn't notice that the egg was soulbound until I collected ten more if them. :( Oh well, at least the feed was cheap and I added a pet to the collection!
