Notes:
This pet was awarded to players who competed in at least 200 games (3v3 matches) during the Qualification Round of the 2009 Arena Tournament. It was mailed to all current characters on the qualifying player's account.

We've heard additional reports that an identical Murkimus the Gladiator was given out to the first wave of players who logged on in China after the new Chinese operator, NetEase, took over and reopened the WoW servers.

Breanni Says:

You'd think for a pet of this magnitute I would've had to fight *300* Arena battles! Get it? 300? Instead of two hund..re... umm... Anyhow, with his tiny little shield and his tiny little spear, one could easily imagine this adorable cousin of Murky's shouting out, "THIS.. IS.. WARCRAFT!" Of course, it would probably just come out as: "Murgl.. Gurgl.. Mrrglrglurglr!"

We had a great time fighting for this one! None of us were what you would call "Hardcore PVPer's", but back then there were lots of others who were right on our experience level trying to do the same. When we FINALLY reached 200 matches, I think we won a little more than half..WAY better than we had hoped to do :D I love the fact that since he wasn't a code, he's not ebay-able. Every time he comes out, I remember the great times we had. I hope they keep the title rewards for the most hardcore!

I got this amazing pet after doing the arena tournament of 2009. It took 200 matches (win or lose) to get him. Unlike his cousin Grunty he has no giant animations. The only two Ive seen are him kind of sneezing and him looking under his shield looking flustered. Maybe they will add another pet for the next arena tournament :).

This pet should have been really easy to get but after getting flaky teammates not once or twice, but three times, I was resigned to not having him. The very last night of the tournament, my boyfriend stayed up and found two random players on the tourney realms and they played all 200 games through that night with a 50% win rating. 8 solid hours of arenas made my boyfriend swear pvp off for a while but I got my games done and he got some serious brownie points!

This little guy is great, but it would be awesome if two Murkimuses fought each other upon meeting, like REAL little gladiators!

I agree - it's absolutely fantastic he is not ebay-able. I'm very proud that I managed to obtain this pet - it was hard and rocky way, as my account wasn't available for the tournament. When I managed to deal with the first obstacle, I had hard times to get a group, and finally we played 2v3 ;) with my guild friend Whiskers (*wave*) who dualboxed her boyfriend's char :) We were extremely happy when we completed 200 fights!

It should require 300 played matches tho. But... THIS IS MADNESS! ;)

Unlike other murlocs, him and Grunty can arm themselves into battle! Its not like he can fight, (well Grunty can kill a zurgling). Its funny to make jokes when people say "We need a DPS" I will respond "We got Murkimus" It would be cool if he did have some sort of special AFK emote, like cheering while waving his spear around or even practicing to duel. Very unique, haven't seen single person on my server besides me who has it. Rock on Murkimus!

To obtain Murkimus, you had to sign up ($19.99 US) for the 2009 arena tourny relms before they locked them (after about 6 weeks). Then during the Qualifying round: Play 200 games+, with the same team, with the same character to receive it on your live account. If you did not meet these requirements before the Qualifying round ended-you did not receive the pet.
I also agree that it is awesome that this pet is not ebayable, and wasnt handed to us. We earned the right to summon Murkimus!

I wish this little guy was Bound to Account because I would love to share him with my newer toons. Murkimus was only delivered to toons who were created at the time he was sent out.

I hope he returns some day, I'm more of a PVE kinda guy, but all you have to do is participate, forget Frostwyrms! Murkys Warrior Cousin is the real prize for any Arena player.

As a Canadian resident I was able to register for the tourney by mailing in an essay comparing American to Canadian Tourney Gaming. But like the others that signed up in this way, we were not able to actually log in & "enter" the tourney until the essay due date which was weeks later. With little time my team & I suffered the long grind until we had more than enough matches. For all that effort you would think he would be BoA so that all my toons could enjoy him!

It breaks my heart knowing I'll never be able to get Murkimus. Sure he's adorable (as all murloc infants are), but that's not why I want him. I want him because he's a Spartan, and my PvP performance could only be bolstered with him in my ranks. He brings centuries of combat experience to the field, after all.

This is one of those pets that make me very very angry at Blizzard... Why you ask? Because there are actually few European countries that can participate in all WoW events. So pretty much all Eastern Europe don't even have a chance to fight for all those beautiful pets and mounts :(. If i could, i would fight for fame, glory and Murkimus! Shame on you Blizz!

I love this little guy! It's to bad he doesn't have an animation like to duel another Murkimus with a tiny duel flag and fight that would be fun lol.

Like Thestralls, me and my girl had a horrible time finding a stable 3rd partner. She had given up on trying for these, as she has 2 accounts and she wanted the pet on both. So me being the good guy I'm, I set up the multiboxing thing and did all 200 matches the last Sunday of the tournament with 3 elemental shammy. It was fun for the first 3 hours, after a while I was just on automatic pilot. To my surprise I won 60% of my matches! The pet was well worth it tho, even better with pet biscuit :D
