I was EXTREMELY lucky when it came to catching my crawdad. For starters, I managed to catch Mr. Pinchy within the first hour of trying. Then I immediately made my first wish and received a bunch of healing and mana potions — no pet. But a minute later, the world server went down. Upon relogging, not only did I still have the potions, but Mr. Pinchy reset himself, restoring all three wishes plus his cooldown! So I made my second "first" wish and got my crawdad! Yahoo!

I was origionally collecting on another character, and my first cast into a highland mixed school got me the crawdad, my first wish got me Mr Pinchy, nothing could be more misleading though, my suggestion is while checking your outland fishing dailies for crockolisks in the city, hit up the 6-10 highland mixed schools every time. Eventually you should see the fruits of your labour...hopefully I will soon.

I was lucky and got Pinchy after a few casts. Thent he Magical Crawdad dropped ont he first wish!

About the only thing "magical" about him is his swimming animation.

Well, and he is the spawn of a genie crustacean.

I took up fishing just for this pet. Thank you Blizz for making fishing a pet friendly skill. Seven fishing pets and counting. Keep 'em coming.

Wonder if they will ever make a cooking pet. A Gingerbread Boy perhaps?

This is a lot easier to get now than during the Burning Crusade as fewer people are in Outland. The largest number of fish-able pools for this are in the large lake with an island in Skettis (Terokkar Forest). It is patrolled by Arrokoa but at 80 few things will aggro on you. If you go from pool to pool around the "ring" the first pools you fished will have respawned by the time you make a circuit.

It took me a solid month and a half of fishing every day, where I would do exactly 5 passes everyday (you'll find the first nodes respawn after you finish the last) before I ever caught my first Mr. Pinchy, and I didn't even get the pet. I stayed motivated though and set a pace and I did eventually manage to catch another one where I was rewarded with the pet. I strongly recommend reading El's Guide to help you in your grind.

I fished for this guy for months, doing the circuit around that lake in Skettis is good and there's also 4 spawn points on the little lake at the bottom of the waterfall towards the alliance town from Skettis.
When he finally dropped for me, I didn't get him on my first wish and boy was I scared! After thousands of casts, I didn't want to do it all again, but I finally got him on my 2nd wish. :D

Mr. Pinchy held me on the edge of my seat for four days before deciding to give me the Magical Crawdad on my third wish ... I though for sure I'd have to spend another eternity attempting to fish him up again, but I was pleasantly surprised! I love you, Mr. Pinchy, but you sure do make us pet collectors nervous xD!

I'm sure everyone knows this by now, but I thought I would mention it. My first wish resulted in The Malevolent Mr. Pinchy & he tried to smash my face in while I stood in the Org bank. There were a whole lot of people wondering what the heck it was, as he just appeared out of nowhere. Pretty funny, after I got over the initial "Oh my gosh he's trying to kill me" reaction.
