This pet had a 100% chance to drop from Tenris Mirkblood, a temporary elite raid boss. The quest Chamber of Secrets leads players to this mob, although players did not need the quest to fight him. This boss was only available during the Scourge Invasion event leading up to the launch of Wrath of the Lich King. The window of opportunity to obtain this pet was about 3 weeks.

Tenris Mirkblood was found in Karazhan in the previously locked Servant's Quarters located up the stairs just past Attumen the Huntsman. It took a raid group of between 5 and 10 players to bring him down. Note that ALL players in the raid were able to loot this pet.

When this pet was available I wasn't high enough yet to go on the boss fight; I had just been introduced to WoW a few months before. I'm the one who told my guildies about it though and they all got one. I'm hopeful that some day I will be able to add it to my collection.. Please, Blizz.. give us poor shleps who missed out a second chance!

This was one of the first trio of pets I got up to 25 (it was paired with a panther cub and a sinister squashling), and it remains one of the pets I use as a go-to for tough pet battles due to the fact that it's undead (so you're guaranteed at least two rounds even if the other pet goes first and one-shots you, as long as you aren't stunned) and has a high-damage ability in Reckless Strike.

Although this pet is not cage-able in the Mists expansion, there are rumors that it has been seen in the Black Market Auction House. If you've got the dough (bids start at ~20k, no buyout, no limit) you may just be lucky enough to get a second chance. (The Arcanite Ripper is also on the list of possible items!)

I am one of the lucky few who got this pet. None of us knew it existed and did the raid just for the new event boss. Then low and behold we each got the pet, and I won the Arcanite Ripper XD

I have such great memories of our GM putting together raid groups of different guildies every day until everyone in the guild had this pet.

Upset that you can't get this pet or other unavailable ones? Well in MoP, because of pet battles, any pet can be sold through the AH! I'd reccomend saving up some G though, cuz they're probably gonna be pretty expensive.

I remember I was naked, fishing in Org (I had been for a bit over a week) trying to catch Old Crafty, when I got an invite from my guild master. I had no idea what was happening, but went along for the ride, and was very happy.

I'm still a bit irritated about this pet. I learned of its existence about a week *after* it was no longer possible to get it. I wish there were some way to go back and get it still.

Heh, when I found out about this guy, I dragged our guildies into Karazhan at about 10 am on a Sunday. Half the people didn't know what we were doing there, but were happy with the result.

This pet has been driving me batty since Wrath launched :( I made the mistake of not rushing to get it when it was made available, thinking I had more time. I procrastinated myself out of a freebie pet! I hate that I have so many of the rarer pets and have lost out forever on getting this easy to get addition. Bad collector! I wish Blizzard would give 2nd chances or alternative means of obtaining non-recurring-event pets.

This pet makes me sad, I finally got people to help me obtain it. I transferred servers and it was gone, I talked to a GM and they said they could find no record of me getting it and then shortly there after the "Vampire Hunter" achievement came out and I knew I'd never get this guy again :(

OK, in Icecrown Citadel, one of the bosses is a re-fight of stronger versions of 3 San'Layn Princes most of us have fought before: Prince Taldaram, Prince Valanar, and Prince Keleseth. Maybe Tenris Mirkblood will come back too in Hard Mode or something, and then we would have another chance at this Awesome Batling.

I like this pet way more than the other batling, and since this one drops from one of the coolest event bosses of all times, who wouldnt agree? i would however like if they added some special effects to its mouth like blood dripping down it's fangs or just some spooky aura.

Just when the scourge was driving me batty, along comes this little fellow, and I don't even have to win a roll! You must have bats in your belfry if you don't rush over to Karazhan to snag this guy for yourself. And watch out for zombies along the way. They're often lurching about where you least sus— *choke* Braaaaaiiins!!! *nom nom nom*
