Just found this as a secondary to a Rat at The Battlefront. Took quite a few battles to get it. Also found a couple of Infected Fawns as secondaries in the same place.

Why not have a Haunt pet apply Haunt? Then bring this in and rabid strike followed up with stampede. I mean, This would be devastating.

Went looking for this guy in Silverpine Forest to complete the 'Eastern Kingdoms Safari' achievement.  Like every one else, I was having no luck finding this little guy, or the Infected Fawn.  So I started fighting the Blighted Squirrels, hoping they would get pulled.  Jackpot.  After a few battles, I got them both.

I released them after capture, as I did the Infested Bear Cub, they just made me a little to sad.  Especially the cub.  I wish there was a quest to cure them, after they are your battle pets.

Nerfed in 5.4, but still useful in a Moonlight team, but Creeping Fungus boosted by Stampede really hurts. But unless facing critter attacks or sandstorm/shields you will put the hurt on your opponent and more often than not go toe to toe with one pet. Pretty strong, might as well go with the H/P one since 240 speed is still likely to be slowest there is. Corpse Explosion is very nice retaliation. But since it is percentage based it won't be weak or strong or affected by shield or stampede.

with the 5.4 they have changed the slot of the abilities, before it was possible to cast creeping fundus then rabid strike. It s no longer possible, which weakens it sadly

Mind the Plaguebats and Plaguehounds if you hunt for this pet in Eastern Plaguelands.

They like little Critters for a snack. Battlepet or not. *snack*

They were easiest for me to find at The Battlefront, near The Forsaken Front in Silverpine.  Tones of level 5 Blighted Squirels and the occasion infected one also.

Ran around fighting everything on Bloodmyst for about a hour. FINALLY by the shore (by the quest bear) a common joined the battle. Switched over to Horde hunter and fly to Silverpine and the first wild pet I see is a Infected Squirrel... and it was a rare!

Took me a good halfhour+ of walking around Azuremyst to find one. Certainly not as common as the rats and ravagers.

More horrifying than its appearance is that the infected squirrels of the Plaguelands no longer hoard nuts, instead collecting rotten, decaying flesh.
