If you can see them on your map but when you stand on top of them you can't see them, there is still a way to capture them. Go into your keybind options and look under "Targeting Functions" for "Interact With Target." Set it to something--I picked "shift-;" but you can use whatever you want. Stand over the area where you map says they are, do a /target blight, and then push your "Interact With Target" keybind. You should get into a pet battle even though you can't see the spawn. Happy hunting!
Completing the quest Ace In The Hole unphases Andorhal. This is the long quest chain that starts in The Bulwark and sends you to a few farms and outposts in Western Plaguelands.
Unlike many of the 'special zone pets', the Blighthawk can and will appear as a secondary battler to other combatants in the zone. I actually caught my rare Blighthawk in a fight with a black rat in and around the Anderhol area. So if you can't find an 'actual' Blighthawk to try, farm the black rats.
After spending a good 5 hours farming for a rare on 2 different servers, I've come to the following conclusions: 1. Phasing of the area is a factor although it won't stop you from obtaining a rare. 2. Most of the Blighthawks I encountered were secondaries to main opponents. 3. Most, but not all the time, the BH ended up as a secondary to a Black Rat. 4. Because it is often a secondary opponent, BH can be found accross the WPL if you take the time to farm the whole area. GL All.
Before hunting this pet i suggest you make sure to do the short 5 quest chain (Literally takes 10mins at 90, not even), make sure to finsh the quest at the Bulwark at the end. Fly back and the area will be unphased. Go to Andorhal and then to your respective factions quest hub, finish the quests and you can now see the Blighthawks :D
This pet only really shows up as capturable in Andorhal, and although they show on the mini-map and are /target -able, if you're phased for that area, be reassured they can be captured as the secondary from any pet battles around the zone. Don't want to waste your time (like I did!) and don't bother trying to chase up the quest-chains to un-phase it - an hour wasted, still unable to unphase it! Just challenge any critters that aren't phased in WPL and you should get a blighthawk without much difficulty.
This pet along with the Widow Hatchling were found to be glitched inside trees and way beneath the earth while I was searching for them.
I did manage to find the Blighthawk while unphased and captured him without too much hassle.
Still unable to find a Widow Hatchling that isn't bugged out in a tree, though
:(
Found in Andorhal. Rare on the first try. :)
Found in the fields of Andorhal. A single lonely common specimen.
I found a common and an uncommon at Dalson's Farm as secondary fights (black rat and squirrel) within 5 minutes of being there. :)
got the rare on blade's edge 1.50AM.
her's the trick (i managed to use after 30 times :p)
go to felstone field
south side of the field = road, go and stan on the road!
then go to the field al you will see pop up 1 black rat.
but when you are close they will disappear
try to be fast, ist a matter of milliseconds.
if u are fast enough and you can click on them before they disappear you can battle them and i got my rare Blighthawk the first time i could click it
let me know if this trick works for everyone.
I couldn't get any atAnderhol because of phasing: i'd fly over, see many green paws and when i came closer to the ground they just vanished.
Good news is: if you're lucky can get one as a second: got twice as second for the average squirel/rabbit but both poor.I just got mines at The Menders Stead after seeing no critters at Anderhol (I have done the quest line) it was a second to a squirrel it is only uncommon.
One of my favorite bird models, if memory serves, I got this model as a hunter pet as well, though my hunter is shelved at the moment. I actually wish they made a flying version of this guy as well as undead.
Found a rare yesterday very strong. kewl graphics
I decided to upgrade my Blighthawk on my way back from EPL. I've spent about 30 minutes already just flying around and engaging every pet I see. Only found one on the map, one was poor, the second common. Every single other one I've seen has been poor quality, and I'm saying that's about 50 of them so far...
Update, the magic of the post worked :) Very next pet had a rare with it, woot! Accidentally killed it using Swarm, but caught it first try once it rezzed
I got a rare BH when I engaged in a different pet battle in Anderhol. The nice surprise is I didn't even know about this pet until this happened :x good luck to all you hunting for it. Just a note: I am finding many rares as secondary battle pets by just engaging in at least 10 pet battles in each zone with the usual fauna.
I have been flying Anderhol (sp)- stink at spelling sorry - I have yet to see on BH. I have completed the quests in the zone, as I am alliance, I do not get the Ace in the Hole one to fix the phasing. Can anyone tell me what the Alli equilivent it? I have killed rattlegore, and took on Grandling. Just not sure what to do. Thank you in advance for help.
Was casually looking for a Blighthawk, haven't tried before. Didn't find any but found a Black Rat near Andorhal, had a rare quality Blighthawk with him! Almost killed him but got success from my cage 1st try :D
Well, just got a RARE on a first try. Didn't do the chain and i found it at HEARTHGLEN!
update: sorry, forgot to mention it was a secondary with a RAT
