If you can see them on your map but when you stand on top of them you can't see them, there is still a way to capture them. Go into your keybind options and look under "Targeting Functions" for "Interact With Target." Set it to something--I picked "shift-;" but you can use whatever you want. Stand over the area where you map says they are, do a /target blight, and then push your "Interact With Target" keybind. You should get into a pet battle even though you can't see the spawn. Happy hunting!
Completing the quest Ace In The Hole unphases Andorhal. This is the long quest chain that starts in The Bulwark and sends you to a few farms and outposts in Western Plaguelands.
Black Rat, Squirrel, Rabbit
*Phasing is the main issue collecting this bad boy. Tired of dive bombing and quickly smashing interact due to phasing I
*Jump on horde toon>Go to the Bulwark>Unlock Andorhol
Below is the quest progression to follow:
1 The Battle Resumes!
2 The Farmers' Militia
3 Ashes to Ashes
4 Lindsay Ravensun, Revealed
5 Ace in the Hole
6 Andorhal, Once and For All
7 The Reckoning
Don't forget! Hit Hearthglen for their surplus of Black Rats as well in your rotation.
Unlike many of the 'special zone pets', the Blighthawk can and will appear as a secondary battler to other combatants in the zone. I actually caught my rare Blighthawk in a fight with a black rat in and around the Anderhol area. So if you can't find an 'actual' Blighthawk to try, farm the black rats.
If you just camping and waiting for Blighthawk to spawn you will need longer time to get rare because some how the spawnning rate is long.
Fight the Black rats along the Western Pluagelands. There is high chance that Blighthawk come as secondary pets. Good luck just got my Rare H.P and H.H rare both form the black rat.
This might help with the phasing problem. Go into your key bindings and find INTERACT WITH TARGET, then click on the red button to the right under KEY 1 that says unbound. Then the next key you hit will bind it to that key. I used my tilde key ` when you find a pet that's phased (like the black rats) that might have a blight hawk as a secondary, get close enough so you can target one and get on a flying mount then fly towards it spamming your interact key. Works but takes timing.
After spending a good 5 hours farming for a rare on 2 different servers, I've come to the following conclusions: 1. Phasing of the area is a factor although it won't stop you from obtaining a rare. 2. Most of the Blighthawks I encountered were secondaries to main opponents. 3. Most, but not all the time, the BH ended up as a secondary to a Black Rat. 4. Because it is often a secondary opponent, BH can be found accross the WPL if you take the time to farm the whole area. GL All.
Before hunting this pet i suggest you make sure to do the short 5 quest chain (Literally takes 10mins at 90, not even), make sure to finsh the quest at the Bulwark at the end. Fly back and the area will be unphased. Go to Andorhal and then to your respective factions quest hub, finish the quests and you can now see the Blighthawks :D
This pet only really shows up as capturable in Andorhal, and although they show on the mini-map and are /target -able, if you're phased for that area, be reassured they can be captured as the secondary from any pet battles around the zone. Don't want to waste your time (like I did!) and don't bother trying to chase up the quest-chains to un-phase it - an hour wasted, still unable to unphase it! Just challenge any critters that aren't phased in WPL and you should get a blighthawk without much difficulty.
This pet along with the Widow Hatchling were found to be glitched inside trees and way beneath the earth while I was searching for them.
I did manage to find the Blighthawk while unphased and captured him without too much hassle.
Still unable to find a Widow Hatchling that isn't bugged out in a tree, though
I got a lvl10 rare on my 5th pet battle, and it was the second to apear near the farm, came with a squirl. also the description on this pet says it flys along side your mount. it does not with me.
Really Relieved! Found one as soon as I got to the area and the secondary was a rare. Really didn't have the patience to hunt for another pet.
Oddly enough, I had no issue whatsoever getting this pet. I noticed an empty spot in my achievement for the EK Safari being WPL, opened my journal and went, hey, I don't have a Blighthawk! Looked on the map, thought, mmm, probably around Andorhal.
2:12 PM, found me a blue P/S about two minutes after finding a common B/B.
Thinking of him as a good pet to replace my Shadeling against Taran Zhu to dodge the Blinding Powder with Lift-Off, as well as having fairly powerful undead moves.
Perhaps these are really night-owls. I found 7 of them (C,U,C,C,C,P,U) right in Andorhal this AM around 4am server time. They didn't seem to respawn so perhaps that's why people have had trouble finding them previously (slow respawn at busy times?) Also found a couple as backline pets to rabbits and squirrels nearby but the percentage was low. I'd recommend a night session if you're having trouble getting this one.
Found 2 rares P/S and H/H 5:05pm realm time, 1 near the blacksmith supplies building and the 2nd next to Araj the Summoner.
Lol. I just take it that I'm quite lucky. I flew around for only a couple minutes, found one, it was rare. However, Im sure I'll be struggling for a while to get it on my wife's account.
Just got a rare Blighthawk after having poor for a couple months. Decided to check it since it was late, 3:30 server time to be exact. Flew right to the center of Andorhal and there were at least 6 that I saw. First one was uncommon, so I took it, then the next one was rare! To say the very least, I'm happy I decided to go check it out.
Finally after months of trips to Andorhal and killing everything in site I nab my rare. Just before I gave up tonight I stopped by and read all your comments and realized that most of you caught your rares out side the city as seconds upon trying this I found my new baby on my third pass at Dolson's Farm as a second to a black rat on Thunderhorn at 12:ooam est. Hope this helps someone and happy hunting to all. Oh and thanks to everyone who leaves a comment they really do help!!!!!
I got one last night, upgraded to rare with stone , leveled to 25
and the stat dont match whats here.
Mine is 1400/305/273 is that normal, do I need to catch a rare to get the higher health?
