*Jump on horde toon>Go to the Bulwark>Unlock Andorhol
Below is the quest progression to follow:
1 The Battle Resumes!
2 The Farmers' Militia
3 Ashes to Ashes
4 Lindsay Ravensun, Revealed
5 Ace in the Hole
6 Andorhal, Once and For All
7 The Reckoning
Don't forget! Hit Hearthglen for their surplus of Black Rats as well in your rotation.
If you can see them on your map but when you stand on top of them you can't see them, there is still a way to capture them. Go into your keybind options and look under "Targeting Functions" for "Interact With Target." Set it to something--I picked "shift-;" but you can use whatever you want. Stand over the area where you map says they are, do a /target blight, and then push your "Interact With Target" keybind. You should get into a pet battle even though you can't see the spawn. Happy hunting!
Completing the quest Ace In The Hole unphases Andorhal. This is the long quest chain that starts in The Bulwark and sends you to a few farms and outposts in Western Plaguelands.
If you just camping and waiting for Blighthawk to spawn you will need longer time to get rare because some how the spawnning rate is long.
Fight the Black rats along the Western Pluagelands. There is high chance that Blighthawk come as secondary pets. Good luck just got my Rare H.P and H.H rare both form the black rat.
Unlike many of the 'special zone pets', the Blighthawk can and will appear as a secondary battler to other combatants in the zone. I actually caught my rare Blighthawk in a fight with a black rat in and around the Anderhol area. So if you can't find an 'actual' Blighthawk to try, farm the black rats.
Got this pet for it's aesthetics (one of my favorite fliers) but found that it disappears as soon as I leave the ground on a flying mount, and then does not come back until I not only land but actually get off my mount. Disappointing.
This might help with the phasing problem. Go into your key bindings and find INTERACT WITH TARGET, then click on the red button to the right under KEY 1 that says unbound. Then the next key you hit will bind it to that key. I used my tilde key ` when you find a pet that's phased (like the black rats) that might have a blight hawk as a secondary, get close enough so you can target one and get on a flying mount then fly towards it spamming your interact key. Works but takes timing.
Before hunting this pet i suggest you make sure to do the short 5 quest chain (Literally takes 10mins at 90, not even), make sure to finsh the quest at the Bulwark at the end. Fly back and the area will be unphased. Go to Andorhal and then to your respective factions quest hub, finish the quests and you can now see the Blighthawks :D
Love this guy, one of my go-to pets when there are alot of Anubisath Idols in play. Get the P/S breed, 273 speed edges out 260 speed range pets. Infected Claw really punishes Humanoids, but remember you will probably miss at least 1 or 2 times with only 85% hit(75% if sandstorm is up).
Don't be afraid to backline the pet at 50% health and "sacrifice" another pet so you can Consume Corpse and heal back up.
Clonedancer team use Cyclone, or go for Lift-Off so you can avoid stuff
If you're a Hunter and want to tame the matching pet, the rare in Hillsbrad Foothills named Alitus, is exactly the same.
First drop into Andorhal 2pm server time. Rare right off the bat. Soooo happy. (45,72)
After spending a good 5 hours farming for a rare on 2 different servers, I've come to the following conclusions: 1. Phasing of the area is a factor although it won't stop you from obtaining a rare. 2. Most of the Blighthawks I encountered were secondaries to main opponents. 3. Most, but not all the time, the BH ended up as a secondary to a Black Rat. 4. Because it is often a secondary opponent, BH can be found accross the WPL if you take the time to farm the whole area. GL All.
This pet only really shows up as capturable in Andorhal, and although they show on the mini-map and are /target -able, if you're phased for that area, be reassured they can be captured as the secondary from any pet battles around the zone. Don't want to waste your time (like I did!) and don't bother trying to chase up the quest-chains to un-phase it - an hour wasted, still unable to unphase it! Just challenge any critters that aren't phased in WPL and you should get a blighthawk without much difficulty.
This pet along with the Widow Hatchling were found to be glitched inside trees and way beneath the earth while I was searching for them.
I did manage to find the Blighthawk while unphased and captured him without too much hassle.
Still unable to find a Widow Hatchling that isn't bugged out in a tree, though
I consider myself very lucky when I got my rare Blighthawk in B/B. I went to Western Plaguelands and found plenty of Blighthawks. I clicked the first one I saw, and it was gray, however, it had a companion with it - a rare Blighthawk B/B. My shortest pet grind so far!
two mins after i got there found a white on a peice of wall right in the middle of the fighting..
I too got mine last night on a black rat proc, a nice P/S rare after 3 battles.
After spending all day farming this pet and not finding any where they are the primary pet (due to crz zoning). I was able to find a rare as a secodary pet from a black rat. I have seen them as secondaries with squirells as well, but not with rabbits.
I got a lvl10 rare on my 5th pet battle, and it was the second to apear near the farm, came with a squirl. also the description on this pet says it flys along side your mount. it does not with me.
