The Creepy Crate is awarded at the end of a low level quest chain (Missing Heirlooms) that can be started by speaking with a NPC located in the Stormwind Trade District Inn (alliance) or the Orgrimmar Valley of Strength Inn (horde).

Players will be rewarded this pet regardless of the choice made at the end of the quest chain.

I love this thing! It reminds me of The Luggage from The Color of Maggic. So I named mine after it.

Actually, I thought I picked up a breadcrumb for this quest line from one of the givers of the Hallow's End Dailies.

It reminds me of The Luggage from the Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett, too.

I am also glad its available at a low level.

For those doing the questing, IF you have the Traveling Tundra Mount (from Dalaran) you do not have to search for vendors or use the AH for 5 crystal vials, and 5 arcane powders. Your mount sells these items.

Two interesting points: Critters eaten by the Creepy Crate count towards the critter kill achievement for guilds, and if you have two creepy crates near each other, one of them will occasionally steal the other crate's meal!

It ate an explosive decoy near me, and my toon got pvp flagged, lol. It also eats the turtles and rats in Dalaran.

I tend to have this pet out all the time to count toward my Guild's "Kill 50,000" Critter achievement for the "Armadillo Pup". It is also great for people running around farming mobs for pet drops. It kills a lot of critters as you run around, a good thing considering it is passive.

I do laugh when this tiny box pulls in a much larger critter into it. I was leveling Archeology while in Arathi Highlands and saw it drag in a cow, literally laughing out loud as I saw it.

Judging by how much it eats, I'm guessing this is the box that Arthas keeps Frostmourne in.

Pair the Death Grip ability with the Mechanical ability Minefield, like the Pet Bombling or Darkmoon Tonk has. Then Devour. You'll see this pet in a new way.

This is a GREAT pet.

Battle pet-it has the ability to pull an injured battle pet back into battle. Companion-it will eat/kill critters. This ability helps both you and your guild with the achievement for critter kills. WARNING: if you have a quest that requires collecting critters, put it away or else you'll be competing with the crate.

Amusing-it expels green gas, licks the rim of the crate, flips itself, & devours a cow in one gulp!

Currently only available during Hallow's Eve.

This has to be my new favorite pet. It's just so... creepy!

I've seen my crate spew green gas in addition to the other animations.

This pet is Uncommon.  The only way you can get this little guy as a rare is to use a Flawless Undead Battle Stone or a Flawless Battle Stone.

The tooltip for the battle pet, Creepy Crate, ability Death Grip reads as follows:

"Deals x Undead damage and forces the opponent's lowest health pet to swap into battle"

- however I have found from playing wih it multiple times that it in fact does NOT force the oppoinent's lowest health pet to swap into battle, it is simply forcing a random pet into battle. I've watched as multiple times instead of it forcing the lowest health pet, it simply chooses which pet it wants willy nilly.

He still eats--at least mine does--just not everything anymore. He won't touch squirrels but is quite happy with stormwind rats. Maybe it's just capturable critters that he won't eat.

Another idle animation: sometimes a fly appears over it, and the tongue slurps it up. Just like the frogs. :)

Ugh. What could possibly be inside this crate?! It must be something small, like a gnome. It must be something with at least 3 eyes ( I have noticed that when red eyes peek there are 2 of them, but when yellow eyes come, there is just one eye) And it must be something with a HUGE apettite! ( What could eat a cow 5 times its own size?) This crate really IS creepy! ( I noticed something: The follow the spiders part of the chain sounds like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)

This thing makes the most adorable chirpy growly slurpy noise imaginable. Okay... I know it sounds hard to imagine that. It's like the Cenarion Hatchling mixed with the Panther Cub. Adorable.

This pet will eat splinter and the ninja turtles in the Dalaran sewers. I was just running by with him out and he ate them and they are not even killable by players.

It's always nice to pop on the computer and get a pet. Do a little questing then it's yours. I didn't even know this pet existed until I finished the questline. I was very happy because it's acutully a pretty cool unique pet. Blizzard knows we love our pets so I hope they keep these suprises coming.
