Got him after only 91 kills of Ravagers and Guardians as an 85 rogue. Just ran around that inner ring in WC, aggroed all of them (and several other various mobs), Fan of Knives a couple times, rinse, and repeat. Incredibly easy grind, and I needed one of those, especially after the ridiculousness that is farming the Crimson Whelpling.

Farmed deviate guardians and deviate ravagers in the first part of the instance, the road makes a circle given 24 mobs per circle per attempt. Had to reset the instance 5 times (wailing carverns) dropped on my 5th run the 102th mob. Total farming time 24minutes.

Got this guy today after 2292 looted kills, and 4 1/2 hrs of farming (this does not include lock out time). I don't know how many times I ran into WC! I can verify that it is indeed still dropping out of WC, so don't give up hope! If you are an eng. make sure you take in some repair bots with you, so that you can drop them right outside the instance. By the time you finish a second run, the bot will still be up and useable (10 min). Also, as someone suggested, wear a city tabard, rep is good!

i have been hunting this pet for a while now i have done this run 10, 20, 30 times now i have lost count are we still sure this pet drops from this instance. i wanna make sure im going about this the right way i just can't seem to get him.

Took 6 runs inside WC. level 85 hunter, set my pet on passive, ran down the entry tunnel and around the first ring collecting aggro on all the raptors. Pretty funny watching 20 or so of them chase me around along with other assorted mobs. Then dropped explosive trap and cleaned up the mess. after 5 resets I had to wait a while to re-enter, so I went over to xroads cleared my bags and made a Deviate Scale Belt to sell. Came back and looted the little guy on the 6th run.

Got this little guy on my 35th run. Worth it, I found it annoying though that there was a wait time after every 5 runs before I could do the dungeon again. After a while though instead of logging out I decided to fish, got myself quite a few stacks of Deviate fish.

I have no luck when it comes to random drop pets, but tonight I am on a roll. I got all 4 nest hatchlings and thought I would try my luck at this one. Needed to farm some leather and scales for my alt.

First run nothing, second run two dropped, third run another one. Anyone know if they increase the drop rate of these little guys because compared to what others have said these shouldn't drop this often?

Run through, aggro all the raptors, once they're all after you do an AOE and kill them all. Then loot them. Doing this it only took me 3 runs that took about 30 mins total. In fact I felt it only took 15! (although I know this isn't quite true :P)

Also, they sell for quite alot of gold, 5k on my server O_o

Got him on my third run through the instance. Just remember to change your tabbard when you do your grind for your pet. I was able to add a little bit of the Gilneas rep while grinding.

This raptor is pretty much the same as the other raptors. I only wanted him to complete my collection. I doubt I will bring him out that often. I rather use my Boomkim which can walk or fly.

I got this one my second run in. I cant believe I never tried to get it sooner! I just ran the circut and collected all of the raptors and hit thunderclap a couple times. AWESOME!

I just started farming this hatchling.
I was very lucky and have all the hatchlings that come from nests.

There are 24 raptors in the instance. Each raptor drops either a tooth or a flecked deviate scale.
If the drop rate is 1 per 1000, you may have to do 50 or so runs through the instance.

I did 16 runs today.

You don't have to worry about others when farming this hatchling because you are in your own instance.
You can only do 5 runs in a dungeon per hour.

A useful way to get money for this lil' guy is to go through the front room a few times and you can get lots of money and you have a chance of getting him at the same time. Happy Hunting!

Was doing a regular 'kill the raptors run', got 2 pets to drop three raptors apart. First time I got it I didnt even notice, I almost sold it. Gotta watch what you loot.

Sixth time into the dungeon and my very own Deviate Hatchling dropped on the first raptor. :D I'm really glad I decided to do this as a once a day process and, as a leatherworker, getting all that medium and light leather from the raptors was also a nice motivator to get through the first room. Took me probably around 130 raptor kills in the end.

As others have said, there are 30 raptors to kill & they're all in the entrance of the caverns, making resets easy. I reset it 3 times and killed 75 raptors. Super cute :)

Edit 10/4/10: I attempted to get another Deviate Hatchling for a friend after I got mine..it took 404 loots! Now trying to get another for somebody else and I'm on my 780th loot and no Hatchling! According to "Bunny Hunter" I have a 100% chance of it dropping, but I still haven't gotten it :(

Hunting Log, Day 23: My raptor hatchling expedition has taken me to the strange and eerie Wailing Caverns. As I write this log, I'm eating a peculiar fish that I caught in a nearby pool. But something strange is happening to me. I... I'm getting bigger and... less intelligent. I'm becoming human! I try to scream, but all that comes out is "Yaaarrr!" Curses! I be a pirate! (And I don't wanna be a pirate!) 'Least now I be taller than that landlubbin' yeti. Think I'll slit th' throat of that scurvy dog... yar.
