Apothecary Furrows is located within Cliffspring Falls in Darkshore. Note that he is an NPC that Alliance can kill for a quest item.

Alliance players must loot an item from Jor'kil the Soulripper after killing him for a quest that is given while on the Darkshore quest chain. This item will start another quest and unlocks Remembrance of Auberdine.

Upon summoning this companion it will be taller than a gnome, but over time it will shrink to the size of the Teldrassil Sproutling. If it is near a body of water while in its smaller state, it will emote "Withers absorbs the water, growing back to full size" and grow back to its original size.

This pet is very cute, but the quest chain leading up to it is a pain in the butt! It's so long and you have to do a bunch of running back and forth. I guess it's worth is in the end, he's bigger then my gnome! Would be a nice reward for anybody in that level range after all the running back and forth they have to do.

Sunsmoon's post is really helpful. If you're on a high level toon and you do the ancient's ire quest, then remember to use the vehicle provided, or else you can't destroy the buildings until you go back to the vehicle.

Make sure you loot the troll leaders corpse after you kill him, because if you are like me and forget you will run around for hours trying to figure out why the withers quest won't open. Finally realized my mistake, went back, and killed the troll again and there was the item to start the quest!

Apothecary Furrows is inside Cliffspring Hollow (cave) located at 56.86, 31.28 in Darkshore.

For those on foot, the ramp up to the cave is located at 56.20,27.20.

Enter the cave, turn left and follow the ramp down, and take a left at the bottom of the ramp. He's up on the ledge, standing next to the table, to the left as you enter that part of the cave.

If you're doing this on a high level toon, make sure you check the corpses and then check your inventory. There's quest starting items involved in the chain that leads up to obtaining this quest!

I just got him- You've got to do quite a few quests for the guy to give him to you. Sunsmoon's post on the wowhead "Remembrance of Auberdine" page is incredibly useful.

I cant remember how tall dwarves are to gnomes, but Withers is as tall as my dwarf.

To get to the quest that gives you this thirsty fellow do EVERY QUEST IN LOR'ANALAND ALL THEIR CORRESPONDING CHAINS. Word of advice when you get to the grimclaw part pick the stag spirit, choosing that spirit will give you a zone wide buff that increases your MOVEMENT speed whenever you are in darkshore

Bought from vendor? Easy! Will go pick that up quickly. Erm . . . nope :p A real pain to find at least as Horde. At cliffspring on the map there are 2 caves. You want the northern one. The path up to it is marked by torches. However, it looks like an ordinary cave full of low-level grels (this is what confused me at first, I didn't bother to go in). However, a Horde-friendly apothecary is down there! Go right to the bottom and left (south) as another poster has said. Good luck!

Withers is such an awesome name, sounds like an old butler with a mustache. Anyway I just got it but I'm a little pissed off because I just dropped 2k on the teldrassil sprouting. Withers doubles him in size. =(

Make sure, if your alliance to pick up the Gilneas tabard in Darnassus before doing the questline if you want a bunch of Gilneas rep.

In order to get him, you need to complete multiple quests in the area. New quests open up as you complete them. Eventually, you'll get a quest to head up to the Ruins of Mathystra, where you'll do quests until you're sent up to Shatterspear Vale. Once you kill the world boss there (Jor'kil the Soulripper), he drops an item that you'll need to turn in back in Lor'danel. Once you turn that one in, Cerellean has the quest "Remembrance of Auberdine" for you. :)

The quest for this is long, and it requires you doing a few quests that unlock other quests in the zone. I suggest you do as I did and do all of the quests in Lor'danel and follow it to the Ruins of Mathystra. when you finish there it will send you back to Cerellean Whiteclaw who gives you Withers. It took me and three other people an hour to do it all (Separately timed for accuracy). Most of the quests are amusing and well worth it.

Horde can have one heck of an adventure finding this cave without help. I left to Darkshore with my friend and we ended up falling into a swirly twirly pool of gumdrops...no not really...that was a horrible ELF joke for the holiday season, but really we fell into a pool that took us underground. The Cave was past this swirly water part covered by a waterfall. The npc was not there however because the Allies can kill him for a quest. He repops. Look for his Apocathary table. He spawns there. GL!

The NPC was invisible for me, but I could see his name.

I opened up my keybindings, scrolled to the target section and bound "Interact with target" to a key.

I did a /tar apo to select him, and then press my newly bound key which brought up the vendor window.

The pet is BoP.

Just got this pet as an alliance, I started doing all the quests in Lor'danel in Darkshore, it's a pretty decently long quest chain, but you will end at the Shatterspear Vale and know you are on the right track. Good luck.
