This pet is redeemed through the very rare 'Tuskarr Kite' loot card from the World of Warcraft Scourgewar TCG expansion. The card may be scratched to reveal a code allowing access to this pet. The code may be redeemed at Blizzard's promotion retrieval page. The pet may be obtained in-game from Landro Longshot in Booty Bay.

The Tuskarr Kite may be struck by lightning that travels down the tether and shocks the owner, creating an interesting visual, but doing no damage. Lightning strikes occur about once every 10 minutes (2 minutes when raining). May not be used while mounted.

Used vs strongest dmg opponents (Aquatic), this is a killer pet! Very unique looking as well and so glad, unlike others, that Blizz lowered the height because no one could see it properly before.  Biscuits that are used to increase its size make it an imposing presence!  It will strike lightning down to you not only in rainy weather but also when you go into fountains, rivers and streams as my lowbie toon found out in Scarlet Monestary!  A very fun pet and used wisely, a formidable battle pet! Slicing Wind + FlyBy with the Flying passive ability are an excellent combo with no cds. ATM only 2.7% have this pet and many of the comments are pre 5.2 - would be great to hear from those that use it in battle post 5.2 :)

It used to fly high. Now after MoP release it barely flies at the balloon level. :(

Tuskarr Kite + Ethereal Mutagen (from Ethereal Soul-Trader) = Fleshbeast walking on the ground still connected by a kite string. And yes, the lightning will still strike the fleshbeast! ~_^

This pet DOES indeed have sound contrary to the information posted. It sounds like it is flapping in the wind. It is quiet so you have to turn up your sounds and/or ambiance.

Not only does this pet despawn when you mount, but also in certain areas or when jumping/falling long distances. For example running over the hole in the floor before Blood-Queen Lana'thel, or if you get too close to the icy pillars in Lich King's room.

I was still standing by Landro, having just gotten my Tuskarr Kite last night, when I got struck by lightning. My wife could see the flash, and hear the thunder-effect, all the way over at the bank in Booty Bay!

The Tuskarr Kite has a little glowing candle-effect inside the fish's mouth.

In Japan, on Boy's Day, families fly a large carp-looking flag for every son in the family. This is much like that.

As noted by many others, this kite despawns when you mount, just as the Dragon Kite does.

A friend of mine who also happens to be in the gaming industry told me that it likely has to do with character location call functions. The kite is connected by a graphical "string", and when you mount, the approximate anchor point for the character-end of the string changes, creating an error that is (lazily) solved by just programming in a "despawn-on-mount" function.

The Tuskarr Kite will disappear if you mount (ground mounts and flying mounts). It will also dismount you if you attempt to summon it while mounted.

You can summon it while in flight form (druids). Instead of floating above you, though, the kite will hover below you. If you are too far above the ground while in flight form, the kite will disappear after being summoned.

Assuming this is like the Dragon Kite, the lightning will not affect any casting. It may surprise any party members not warned about it but other wise just an animation.
Anyone know if this one also disappears when mounted or swimming like the Dragon Kite?

Ok Tuskarr... I'm confused. I've heard of skinning bears, cats and other animals for armor, but skinning fish for a kite? Incidentally, the Tuskarr Kite flies about as high as its price on ebay. Of course, its fishy scent attracts seagulls, vultures, hordies on wyverns, and other flying vermin. *chuckles* Relax, hordies, I kid, I kid. You know I love you guys. You're some of my best customers, what with my pet shop being located right next to your sector of Dalaran. *winks*
