The Enchanted Lantern formula is a BoP Horde only recipe, however the created item itself is BoU. The formula costs 20 hypnotic dust, and can be purchased from multiple Enchanting Supply Vendors located in the major Horde capitals.

The recipe can also be purchased from an NPC named Agatian Fallanos, located within the horde starting area called Dragonmaw Port in the Twilight Highlands. Note that the zone is phased upon entering, and Fallanos as well as other vendors will be inaccessible until players complete the initial quest chain for their faction. Twilight Highland quests have a minimum level of 84.

The Alliance version of this pet is the Magic Lamp.

I leveled one of the Lamps up, gave it a magic stone, and it's a pretty decent counter to the supercharge 1-shot mechanical pets added in patch 5.1.

 

Can't be 1-shotted, due to the magic passive.

 

Flash is fairly reliable at making the enemy pet miss, and its basic elemental attack hits mechanicals for about 450 damage.

With the new account-wide journal, you can now buy this pet cheap on a horde side toon, learn it, and then have it on your alliance main. This i assume also works for the alliance counterpart with horde side toons.

I find this pet and the other lamp go perfect with mages. Especially gnomes...not sure why ^_^

try to get this on my alliance toon over on khaz modan. no ones selling in the nueral or alliance auction house. next timei see one imbuying it so fast :(

The pet is now very affordable for both horde and alliance. Yup. I'm alliance and bought it 2 week ago on the AH for 5k BUT now there's always several of them on the AH for the affordable average of 1k.
Its just that I couldnt wait for the price to drop to get it! The horde version is, in my humble opinion, more beautiful than the alliance version. :]

Bought it at AH today for 1.4K gold, think its kinda nice price for it. And I have mining so 1,4K can i get back in a day selling stuff^^

Prices on my server are hovering around the 3.5-5k range. I picked up one last night by going direct to a seller that I've had some dealings with in the past, and he let me have one for 3k, so not bad at all. The crystals alone are still 2.5-3k on my server...

Just bought off the AH for bout 4k which is pretty decent seeing as I've seen em go for like 12k. Floats just above my Undead's head, makes me feel like a questgiver ^-^. Pretty cools how it flies in a kind of circular motion while mounted.

I have found that you can have BOTH, yes BOTH, of these lantern pets! It doesn't matter if you're alliance or horde, you can learn both pets! YAY BLIZZ!
