Mechanical Chicken

This pet may be used by non-engineers. Players must complete all three escort quests to earn a final quest, [50]An OOX of Your Own in Booty Bay, which provides this pet as a reward. Note that the pet is BoU, so it can also be found at auction.

This is the one of the few mechanical pets that doesn't require engineering to create. All you have to do is escort OOX-22, fending off swarms of yetis, gorillas, and gnolls, all the way to the Feralas coast. Then guide OOX-09 through the Hinterlands, fighting oozes, wildkin, and packs of invisible wolves. Next hit Tanaris to lead OOX-17 across half the zone, thwarting scorpids, basilisks, hyenas, rocs, and bandits. Yup, that's much easier than getting a few mithril bars and some jade… but I'm not bitter.

I can't belive people sell this one on the AH. Once you get him and sell him, you can't ever get him again. I know, I know... some people just aren't into pets like we are. But seeing this one on the AH makes warcraftpet collectors cry for those that know not the joy of companion collecting.
I used the addon "EveryQuest" from wow.curse.com. Worked like a charm.
Happy Hunting!
The Shattering changed the Ferelas quest, if you did the old one it no longer counts and you'll need to do the new one before you can get the pet.
Once done;
You may also get an error about not meeting the requirements while claiming the pet (I did) just accept the quest again and it should go through awarding the pet.
P.S: why was my suggestion of OOX-04/U downrated so badly?
In the Hinterlands, if the wolves (mangy silvermane) are giving you a hard time, I found that the oozes in the cave of skulk rock worked wonders for most of my characters.
The beacon in Tanaris will almost always drop in zul farrak, but if you don't want to do the instance, the pirate mobs south of Tanaris also drop it (though not as frequently).
Good Luck!
I finally found the last 2 of the quest drops i needed to get this pet while doing a scavenger hunt for my guild. I was so excited but when I learned the pet i was vastly disappointed to see it was only a uncommon pet. Well, here is hoping to find a Battle-Stone to up its quality.
It's nice that these are BoU but I accidentally learned a second one (had farmed it to sell it) and because they're not cageable, I can't get rid of the duplicate unless I release it. =/
After hundreds of kills, reading pages of old information, trying out completed quest macros and chat requests.... i found the OOX0-09/HL laying on a rock in the
middle of a lake waiting for me to find him. Just an easy find and follow, no more looking for a drop!
With the amount of hazzle to get this companion, you'd think they would make the companion rarity for pet battles into blue.
You need to do all 3 quest lines with the beacons before you get the pet. Just wanted to clear that up for you :)
will repost if there is a bug.
He was the first kill in the zone for me.
