This model of raptors is produced in the Blade's Edge Mountains. Their robotic roars are a common sound near Toshley Station.
CRZs are a pain, I fly in and see 20 or so pets, some were the raptor. But as soon as I touch down and sync with the CRZ, they all disapeared.
CRZ should be opt in. Bah.
Let the down ratings begin. :) Go on you know you want to.
Toshley Station does not show up on the map...and the people there are quite unfriendly. What's a poor horde pet collector to do?
Best bet- circle Death's Door around Razor Ridge - found a blue on my third try! =)
LOVE this guy. I highly recommend picking one up.
If possible, go for a S/S variant(I was lucky enough to find a rare one my first time out). My moveset for him doesn't really change, so this is what I use:
Batter - Screech - Exposed Wounds: Incredible synergy, making full use of its high speed while downplaying its relatively low power, while at the same time providing debuff support.
I got a rare of this pet fairly easily. I use this pet for fighting against the Monkey at the Darkmoon Fair. Set up for that Tamer is Nexus Welpling, Water Waveling and Cogblade. Almost never lose with this combo.
This little guy wrecks shop matched up with a Clockwork Gnome building turrets and a Lil Bling throwing money around. The combo of dmg buffs and debuffs with the multiple dots is killer. I did most of the Roboteer achievement with that team.
caught my blue (balanced) today, team also had a blue skittering that I needed...I hate when the Gods make you chose!
...of course I took the raptor ♥
Found them located completely around Death's Door with less in the northern area.
The Shelf to the East of Deaths Door is definitely where they are, I found about 10 up there, most poor or common but I did land a Rare, 10 to 9 est
Scalewing shelf is most definitely EAST of death's door.
Found over 10 of them at 68 , 68
all were poor quality
S/S of this breed is absolutely incredible and one of the best pets in the game (seriously). The combination of 341 speed, being a Mech, and having Batter (2-3 hits based on being faster) and Expose Wounds (less damage than Black Claw but lasts 5 rounds) adding 70 damage to every hit the enemy takes, can only really be beat by elementals (and even then...) I would get 3 of these in S/S of any quality and stone them up if you have to. They're that good and you won't regret it.
Not sure if this is a new change, but I found about 20 of them around Toshley's Station.
3 and a half hours later, 2 uncommon caught. otherwise mostly poor.
They may not be the most versatile pet, but they're an absolute terror if going up against a beast team. I capped a B/B and S/S while I was there in Blade's Edge. Got the B/B as it was a rare, and needed to stone the S/S.
A great pet to use against Gargra in Frostfire Ridge. Usually, you can takeout her first two pets with a single Cogblade Raptor.
:) i have hunted these li'l guys four times now for at least four hours total if not more, probably at least a hundred or so battles, and never seen a rare. not that i'm complaining though, honestly, just how RNG goes i have had insanely great luck on some pets (and battle-stones) that others have had poor luck on. in fact, i just got a mech battle-stone and am deciding between this guy and a fluxfire feline to use it on and came here to check the comments. and: aren't they cute?!
Must be back to the old ways.. Made 2 circuits killing common.s etc & could not find a rare after 30 odd battles. I did get 1 of each breed as common.
This guy helps a lot vs Major Payne! I was stuck on him for a while and could not advance to Cata trainers, beause of his evil mecha-bear. Cogblade took him out though! Even using the B/B breed, the raptor is faster by around lv 23-24. And once he is, he can outdamage the bear's heal, and once the bear is down the rest of the fight is much easier.
Got a rare on my second battle right around Toshley's station. Was pretty happy about that. Though my usual goal is to get two uncommons and one rare of each pet...don't ask why...it's just a thing I do.
During final stage of Celestial Tournament, I threw this guy in first against Zao thinking he would die quick and I could figure out how to beat Zao with my other 'better' mechanical pets. I was gonna let him die and start over. I cast Expose Wounds first, adding 75 damage to each hit, then spammed Batter; which hits a minimum of twice since Cogblade is faster. I knocked Zao down to 380 hps in 4 rounds before he could heal back up. Then 2nd pet killed him.
My experiencing farming for a blue version of this pet is not nealry as dire as some posted here - i found that if you set yourself a circluar path on the ledge/path right round Death's Door and stuck to it, the first ones you fought had respawned by the time you got back round to the beginning of your circuit.
This is easily the pet i use the most in the game - it is so versatile, and making judicious use of Screech (if needed) followed immediately by Exposed Wounds, then either Bite or Batter (depending on who you're fighting), you can really make a dent in the opposing team. At least half of the tamers in Pandaria have suffered terribly at my hands through this little guy!!
