The engineering wizards in Everlook created this unique cub as a test model. Unfortunately a few went rogue and were never recovered.

It is indeed a bit more than one step outside the walls, its more like 30-40 steps with your character. But, I also found one very close to the center of the town, so they are just really spread out, it seems.
For those seeing pets on the ground while using the flight point taxi system, you are seeing them due to Cross Realm Zones (CRZ). You fly in one realm (presumably your own) and you land in another. No one can get them in the realm you flew over.
When I went to Everlook, I saw a few pets up, none were the cub. Went around killing all the critters and battlepets. After about a 1/2 hour, I saw a paw to the south of the road. I figured it was a squirrel, but it was my robo cub. He was rare quality. Make sure you look at the area around Everlook, as they dont spawn just in the city!
I just caught mine! As someone suggested, I killed all the robot-critters in Everlook. Since they didn't respawn immideatly, I went off to fight owls for five or so minutes. When I got back, it was right at the entrance - and a rare one too! :D
@Goldenboy116 They fixed it so pets won't spawn at server reset anymore. A lot of people were complaining about the pets not being up at the start yesterday. A blue replied and said that it was working as intended and that several of the new pets have very long respawn timers.
Not sure if the killing everything around works or if i got a bit of luck: got there and no robo cubs around, killed all critters and other pets and got one poor,tried again and got another poor, killed everything again for quite a while and nothing happened
About gave up. Then tried logical strat. Killed everything inside/around EL, even 2 squirr and rabb crit. Ran outside circut killing all rspns. Took 3 circ's then a cub would pop...(1) only. Wash, rinse, repeat...in toto...(7) cubs popped doing this, RARE was #4. 1 spwnd "IN" EL city.

Picked one up today at 9pm ET just south of Winterspring. Mine was only a poor, but in my opinion no robotic bear could EVER be described as "poor".
Awesome pet!!! Has a really nice toolkit with Supercharge+Demolish+Heal...doesn't get much better then that.

It's cute, buff and useful. All in all, a better-than-average pet.I have seen more outside of Everlook than in it. I would recommend starting in the center of Everlook, go outside to just across the road, then make a big circle around the town. That should cover all the area that they can be spotted in. The coordinates below are a good guide as well.
They typically seem to spawn in places where the Rabid Varmints, Rabbots, or Robo-Chicks spawn. I'm not sure there is a correlation between killing them and cubs spawning...but it kills some of your waiting time.
Found one just behind the horde FP next to Everlook, looked quite a bit and never saw one as a secondary.
About 8:50pm realm time.
Nesingwary 12:50am coords 59,45 just north of Everlook. I had been fighting all the pets in the area around Everlook for about an hour. This guy popped up as the lead pet of 3. Poor quality. I'll keep him and keep looking. :)
got my rare on the first one i battled. i felt bad though because there was a player who had been there for two hours trying to get one. i got the pet just west of everlook
Searched for a week, on 4 different realms, finally got my rare. I absolutely adore this guy xD
When i arrived at Everlook there were none in the area but after clearing out all the mech critters outside and inside the town limit one spawned near the horde Flight master. The cub turned out to be an uncommon spawn. I am happy to have gotten one even if it was not a rare. Good Luck all in your hunt for one of these cool pets.
Just found a rare on the hill to the left and behind the horde flight point 59.45 at 3am server time. There were quite a few around, poor, uncommon and common. They are a little outside of Everlook as well as inside. *dances the happy dance*
I spent an hour looking but didn't find any of this one. I even killed all the critters in and around Winterspring :( hoping for a spawn. Just thought I would mention it just to let folks know that many of us look for these pets and don't find them, but the joy is in the journey :) I gave my teams of this level some good xp so no time is wasted. Don't give up!
UPDATE: Found a Common, see my comment on Robo-Chick :) Common found near Horde Flight Master on hill at 1015pm Zangarmarsh time.
Got mine just to the South of Everlook, at (59.01, 52.77). I could go the rest of my life without seeing another Nut Varmint.
I nabbed mine right next to the Horde flight master in Everlook. After days of looking for them, this is the first one I saw (literally minutes after capturing a Snowy Owl!). It was a gray, but I'm too stoked to have this little guy to care. He's adorable. :)
