What I would suggest for anyone farming this pet is to install the peggle or bejeweled addon, it helped me pass the time much more enjoyably while farmed this little beauty. Got him yesterday after several days of trying, keep at it guys, it will be yours :)

I started to farm for this pet after spending time farming for the turtle mount. Since I was around Dalaran, I thought I'd try my luck. I guess Blizz took pity on me for grinding pets/mounts with absurdly low drop rates, and I managed to get the rat to drop in 30 casts!
Using the addon Rarity; (from Curse) it calculated:
7 Magic eaters
1 partially eaten fish
13 sewer carp
3 drowned rats
5 crystal vials
1 giant rat
To those who haven't gotten one yet, keep farming! + side, you stay in 1 spot! :)

I am sooo lucky was starting to farm for this pet after my friend got it! I got it in 123 casts I am soo happy to get him! I named him precious!

Talk about unique: I caught this guy while I was transformed by a dalaran potion to look like a wasp! Guess he wanted to eat me, lol. It was also only around 300 casts, and it was my 125th pet!

Just got it at my 2260 th cast.Really? yes really!. I admit that I felt relieved.
Next grind I am going to discipline better and set some time boundaries for myself. I have some difficulties to stop if it doesnt go as I hoped for but this will teach me.

Although I fished on and off at the sewers during Wrath, it was in the past couple of days that I really went for this pet, and I finally got it after 1191 casts! Keep fishing, folks!

Sat for about 4 days on and off catching roughly 500-1000 fish per day, today i sat for 5 hours caught about 1200+ fish and decide to go for a cig, while im standing there some other ally comes up so i say to my wife "watch this, this douchebag will come up cast once and get it" so she jumps on to my PC and casts 5 times and on the 6th cast what happens...... That's right she gets it for me!! i tell you this game hates me!

Fishing roughly 3 weeks for a few hours a day, my fishing was kind of low when I started around 250 to 300 now it's maxed and still no rat. Can't force myself to give up though lol. WOOT!! got the lil guy today on my second cast, now my life can begin again.

I kept fishing in Dalaran's Underbelly a little here and a little there. Near when I first started it said, "1000 fish caught." Now it says, "Fish and other things caught: 1703". So I'd say I got it in about 750 - 800 casts?

I wasn't een expecting it. I was actually going to text someone when the bobber splashed. So I clicked it, and vwooosh! Achievement. I was ecstatic. I had Whiskers the Rat pet out and targetted, but I just got it so for the last maybe 75 - 100 casts.

Whoa, look at the size of this guy! I bet he can do some amazing feats. I've even heard that if he catches you doing martial arts, he can learn your ninja moves and then teach them to other pets, like Speedy. Makes you wonder just what exactly is in that sewer water. More importantly, since there are no restrooms in Dalaran, where's it all coming from?
