This pet is awarded to players who compete in at least 50 games (3v3 matches) during the Qualification Round of the Arena Tournament. It is mailed to all current characters on the qualifying player's account. 200 games were required in 2009.

We've heard additional reports that an identical Murkimus the Gladiator was given out to the first wave of players who logged on in China after the new Chinese operator, NetEase, took over and reopened the WoW servers.

Looks like Murkimus is back for the 2010 Arena Tournament. I'm assuming they will keep him in rotation for years to come, so I have updated his profile accordingly. At least this gives everyone who missed him last year a chance to get him this year. Happy PvP'ing!

I am looking for a team, so far it is just me (Boomkin). I am doing this for the pet, so if your looking for a title and 49-1 in wins, I guess that I wouldn't be the right person for you.

I wish this little guy was Bound to Account because I would love to share him with my newer toons. Murkimus was only delivered to toons who were created at the time he was sent out.

What some people don't know is that in the original Warcraft RTS games, Murlocs had Armor, Shields and Weapons like this one, so this pet is part Murloc that looks ready for the Arena, and part throwback to the olden days.

Like Thestralls, me and my girl had a horrible time finding a stable 3rd partner. She had given up on trying for these, as she has 2 accounts and she wanted the pet on both. So me being the good guy I'm, I set up the multiboxing thing and did all 200 matches the last Sunday of the tournament with 3 elemental shammy. It was fun for the first 3 hours, after a while I was just on automatic pilot. To my surprise I won 60% of my matches! The pet was well worth it tho, even better with pet biscuit :D

From the official FAQ: Players who participate in at least 50 rated Arena Pass games on one character and with the same team will be eligible to receive the Armored Murloc pet for their live characters. Notice it says participate, not win? Yeah, 50 matches. You can do that with your eyes closed.

So I just logged in this morning and saw that this pet is offered now for signing up for this arena thing. Basically pay 20 dollars and seems that you can get it. I guess its an arena type realm.

Reminder, folks, Blizzard can revoke your rated matches if you throw the fights. Fortunately, you can be terrible at pvp (like me) and still get Murkimus as long as you at least try to fight. Just remember, the pointy end goes in the other guy.

Arena 3vs3, initial phase lasts for 8 weeks, 1st 4 weeks are for Pratice, the other 4 weeks are the Qualification Phase, ratings are reseted.

It's on this Qualification Phase, you need to do all 50 matches to be eligible, no matter winning/losing on these last 4 weeks.
Your team will obtain a ranking by playing at least 10 matches per week.

Some friends and I were planning to join the 2011 Tournament under the assumption that Murkimus will still be available, and I was looking for some concrete info from those who got the pet.

According to his page here, it says "This pet is awarded to players who compete in at least 50 games (3v3 matches) during the Qualification Round of the Arena Tournament."

What does getting into the Qualification Round entail? Do you have to win earlier matches to make it to that round?

You'd think for a pet of this magnitute I would've had to fight *300* Arena battles! Get it? 300? Instead of two hund..re... umm... Anyhow, with his tiny little shield and his tiny little spear, one could easily imagine this adorable cousin of Murky's shouting out, "THIS.. IS.. WARCRAFT!" Of course, it would probably just come out as: "Murgl.. Gurgl.. Mrrglrglurglr!"
