This wild pet can be found at The Scarab Wall and The Scarab Dais in the southwest area of Silithus. However, it only spawns during the summer months.
The guardling can spawn on either side of the wall, and all the way up to the portal entrance of either instance.

Zookeeper is not the only achievement that has you waiting a year. May I cite "What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been." And I highly doubt they released the entire expansion a week after summer is over purely because of a window for a pet.
I am perfectly happy with the three month window of summer to capture this guy. After all, Patience is a virtue and anything worth having is worth waiting for.

Putting a character on an Oceanic server will not work, WoW has the same server seasons regardless of continent. Those that are looking for the Zookeeper title will simply h ave to wait until early next year.
It makes you earn it, you should appreciate that.
Welp. It's March 20th PDT and I feel cheated. Probably has a random spawning pattern or something. I've been patient long enough! Where's my Guardling!?
Edit: putting on my "the Patient" title and sucking it up. After reading several nasty arguments on the wow forums I've decided we probably all deserve to wait another 2-3 months.
If Summer Bass is anything to go from, we'll be able to catch this from the 20th of March.
If it's anything like the Summer Bass/Winter Squid, then "summer" starts in March around the Vernal Equinox and continues to the Autumnal Equinox in September. You can always catch one or the other of those fish; there's never a time when neither is available.
Just spoke to a GM - it is not currently 'summer' it is 'spring'.
I spoke at lengths on how the mechanics of the 'winter' pet, snowy owl, shared the same season as the wintersquid - but apparently the Guardling is not the opposite pet to the snowy owl, despite being the only 'summer' pet.
GM hinted at June - but as always, wouldn't give a straight answer - so who knows.

For those who didn't get it in PTR it basically spawns where ever you're getting the sidewinders and scarab hatchlings in AQ. It's not just at the Scarab Wall, it's also IN Ahn'qiraj (as in fly over the top don't go through the actual raid zones.) It spawned everywhere in that area, even in spots you can't get to unless you have a mount. Just FYI in case you hit a heart stopping moment of not finding it when it does spawn, explore the nooks and cranies.
Noticed the location tab shows this as only a secondary, while beta had it as a primary only. Guessing that has to do with none found to put in the database?
I think it's great! And a good way for them to keep us playing to earn the title. And it looks like an awesome pet. Can't wait to add it to my collection!

Indeed no pet out today with patch 5.3 But it was on Ptr.. No clue.. this is boring blizzard!
Been battling pet ofcourse since it only join as a 2nd or 3rd in a battle and only spawn on 2 places

Since there is no such thing as a summer equinox, perhaps the GM was referring to the summer solstice? This year the summer solstice will be in the 21 of june.
I was told by GM summer equinox, and this according to the way things work in the real world. Take that as you will, couldn't hurt to check an almanac.
Talked to a GM yesterday and she said that summer starts the same time as IRL summer. So expect this around June 21st. :P
I got the same response from GM about 2 seasons as well and that the summer started around March 20. If I remember correctly, the snowy owl didn't appear right away either-the end of October, a month after the first of the winter season.
I too wrote a ticket regarding this pet and the Snowy Owl pet and whether there are 2 seasons, winter and summer, or 4 sesons, spring, summer, winter and fall and what the dates might be for those seasons. The GM who replied told me that winter ended March 20, 2013 and that I should start looking for the Qiraji Guardling and try again in the winter to get a Snowy Owl. According to the reply I was given there is no spring or fall in WoW.
I have a hunch it will be around late June, approximately the 21st according to talks with GMs. March is Spring, not Summer =(
