This is a must have pet. The damage output is superb. FROST SHOCK (to instigate CHILL) then DEEPFREEZE (big damage plus 100% stun) then TAKEDOWN. Great against Dragonkin and Critters, but usefull against all others.
I find this pet is incredibly useful to have on my team against the three critter pets for the legendary daily, especially the cricket. They do next to NO damage to him, while all his abilities in the beast family (Mangle, followed by Rampage, and Thrash until Rampage is off cooldown) wreck them so he can practically solo them, especially if used in conjunction with the Alpine Foxling's Dazzling Dance skill. :)
Frost Shock chill the enemy in 5.2. Huzzah!
After having bad luck with the rare version of this pet over and over again, finally captured one at 5:16 am. Got a 4,14 too, which looks to be the best version of this pet.
This companion is so big that I rode right past him on the road to Shadow Pan Monastery thinking he was a mob, but the pet paw on my mini-map caught my eye.
@Kurasu: Further info: Since about Feb. 1st, I've had Frost Shock definitely slow the enemy, though not chill them (frosty icon used to appear with the slow one) which the game appears to accept as the same thing (when it does slow them--about 20% success, in my experience--Deep Freeze hasn't yet failed). Perhaps there was a hotfix on the 1st that broke this while fixing something else?
Be warned: the 'Frost Shock' ability, while the tooltip describes it as 'chilling' the enemy, does *NOT* apply the 'Chilled' status.
Very, very good pet with "Chill + Nuke and Stun chilled + Nuke stunned".
It can be countered quite nicely by maggots (beast take less damage form "Nuke Stunned" ability) because they have undead ability that damages and heals + Burrow attack so they deal more damage while take much less at the same time.
another strong pet is Ghastly Skull. It has all undead damaging abilities, at least one of them also heals, one of which stuns so the Runt will take much, much more damage.
Found one in between Peak of Serenity and Winters Blossom.
1:20 AM Central - Same location everyone else mentioned about the Hungry Yeti. Got a rare my first try.
Found a common while doing the daily exp quest on a low level monk. This is a very loud pet (and much larget than expected) While you walk he makes noisy stomping noises and rawrs.
At 35,15 55,75 there is a big Elite Hungry Yeti. I got my rare one arond him, followed the road to shado pan monastry and follow the path uphill.. i found 6-7 ones before i got a rare. there was als some downhill as long as there was snow :)
I got mine when I was on my monk when I decided to use Zen Pilgrmage (he was behind the ONLY temple there), I was lucky to find him because I thought it wouldn't be any pets there and he was the only one.
Found a common on the cliff right above Ahone the Wanderer rare npc. The only one I saw after running all over around One Keg & above that, & all over around Winter's Blossom. A good looking pet, & a good size too. Can't wait to try him out!
Found mine just above Winters Blossom, somehow managed to 2 shot it, got angry, then found another right next to it haha. grey quality but its better than nothing :]
Had been looking for this guy for some time & kinda had given up cos I was annoyed. Then a few days ago I was clearing out the list of pets I was missing from the different zones. I half-heartedly went to the area of my map where the Humanoid icons were & there was quite a few of them. It wasn't just after a reset or anything. In fact, in my search for a rare I doubled back upon my route and some had respawned again.Seriously,I spent hours there before and never saw a single one.Just Luck
got mine first try rare @35,7 ; 55,09, servertime AM 1:30
I was flying around Kun-lai Summit and spotted one on my minimap. Before I could fight it, I was attacked and my pet's Thunderstomp killed it. But a few seconds later I found another one. And it was a rare! I caught it and soon found several in the area. I caught a second rare and a rare Tolai Hare of of a poor quality runt. I've been occasionally flying around the Summit with 0 sightings, then a whole bunch spawned at once. I don't know if this is a pattern. It was at 9pm server time on Arthas.
Generally found along the road/mountains between Valley of the Emperors (south of Mogu'shan Terrace) and Winter's Blossom. Check in the nearby monastery areas too, since apparently they are a curious bunch.
Found 2 right above Winter Blossoms FP, then another one above that among the elite sheep.
