This pet is very good in the P/B breed or 10,20. I prefer quills over the other slot 1 move.
They've confirmed that winter, for the purpose of catching this pet, is November 1st to the last day of February. So, no more owls until next November.
Nobody seems to know exactly when summer is supposed to be, but I'd guess, based on the 4-month winter season, that it will be May-August.
So do we have a confirmation that winter is over as far as snowy owls are concerned? What are some other seasonal pets we should be looking for? By the time I knew this one was in winter only I seem to have been too late to get it this year.
Yesterday & today - March 4 & 5th did not see any owls anymore. Still missing a rare one :/. Looks like the end of winter is synchronized with the meterological seasons (Winter Dec 1 - Feb 28/29). So hopefully the camping for our summer pet will start soon - Zoodirector inc :-)
Feb 28th, second day of farming for a rare, unsuccessful as of yet. Lots of uncommons. Maybe I'm just being superstitious but they do seem to be affected by selective farming, so clearing out spawnpoints by entering battles and forfeitting with non-owl pets seems to help them spawn. Small realm population is a godsend!
just found a single one on skywall, 45/14, uncommon. Been looking all around winterspring for days!
I captured mine on Duskwood server today. 12:13am server time. Frost Whisper Gorge, down in the valley. Uncommon. I was stoked beyond belief.
Just after 3 pm server time, I saw about 8 or so. Mostly poor and only one uncommon.
Caught today on Dreadmaul today at 5:35 server time, so I guess its still winter! not too sure if it goes on american seasons or aussie/nz seasons. Hoping not as I hope too get my guardling. But I can confirm that today there are a few here. Got a green first try.
Probably my most frustrating hunt yet. The rarity of the spawns ontop of the idea of having to kill the spawns that AREN'T owls to inspire their spawning in the spots where they should spawn has me wanting to tear my eyes out. It's really unfortunate because I get dizzy because of all the white scenery and flying around.
Does anyone have a confirmed date of when 'winter' ends as far as World of Warcraft is concerned? I was thinking around the middle of March but yeah.
I can confirm it is still winter just got an uncommon next to the gorge, only saw this one spawn though.
Rare....is rare....i catch 1 at 61/73 after 6 days farming :))
Been looking for a rare for hours and days. Anyone know of a way to increase chances of getting a rare?
UPDATE: I finally found my rare. I went there about an hour or two after server maintenance on a Tuesday. I found my rare after about 5 tries. There were many more Snowy Owls than usual, as well.Feb. 10th and I just got a common in the southern part in the Gorge.
Still around as of 10th Feb. caught my uncommon @ 41.16, 49.42
For anyone wondering, these are still around as of Feb 5. If you are just starting out and don't want to miss your snowy owl, a simple strategy is to level up until you can catch a Spawn of Onyxia (or level your Onyxia Whelping if you have it). At level 11/12, an Onyxia whelp can capture the Arcane Eyes near Karazhan (which always fight alone). Catch 2-3 Arcane Eyes to make fighting the Snowy Owl (and the 2 pets that spawn with it) a piece of cake.
I freaked out today (1st february) that maybe winter is over in wow terms (if season is exactly 3 months) because there was none to be seen but some time later I found one so it's still winter and you can get one if you were wondering. :)
first one i encountered was a rare, just east of mazthoril.
Found another one 10 minutes later just NW of there at Lake Kel'Theril. Don't know of rarity b/c I left it for next person. Luck to all :)
Saw a couple today outside of Winterfall Village. Caught my rare on my second tame.
