Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling

I was having fits finding a Rare, and after battling enough wild pets to raise a L5 crocolisk to L25, still didn't have one.  I overflew Thundermar, which had a Poor hopping about with the other hatchlings, made another couple of loops hoping for a marmot at least, and came back ready to quit... when I noticed there was a second hatchling pet.  A Rare.  Serverstraza answered my pleas!

Caught my rare as a second to a rattlesnake, decided after reading comments here to battle all the pets around instead of just killing them to make them pop up as main pets

as a hordie, i couldn't tame the ones that spawned, but i noticed that they tended to be seconds or thirds to rattlesnakes and highland turkeys -- got my uncommon that way after several tries

I got 2 poor  Gryphons today farming between 43.0 35.6 and 51.0 22.0 but i do have stones. one had speed and the other had attack power hmmm.  they were both seconds from battling pets in the area.  I am horde with a lvl 75 DK so i stayed a way from the buidings.  The Gryphons there were out in the open but they had a sword over them when i tryed to click on them and i could not battle.

Got it on rattlesnake as a secondary at 0800 AM Bleeding Hollow at 51,22

Got my rare this morning just outside Kirthaven as a second to a Yellow-Bellied Marmot. I looked for this little guy a lot last night but had no luck. Today it was my first pet battle. 

A couple of things I've noticed about this pet: I have yet to see one as a primary pet. Also, they have the exact same six moves as the Pet Shop Gryphon Hatchling, just in a different order.

Catching this pet makes you Neutral with the Wildhammer Clan if you aren't already.

I was in Twilight Highlands last night gathering all the battle pets when a friend asked me if I had found a Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling as it had taken him some time to find a rare. It didn't take too long for me to find a rare. This morning I returned to search for the elusive (well to me anyway) rare red-skinned Scorpid. I decided to engage the Rattlessnakes as well and lo and behold I encounter four rare Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchlings in a row. Just thought I'd share :)

Found mine at 3:30 am server time Vashj in Kirthaven right by the flightmaster...Actually as I landed the little paw was under my feet :)

How the heck am I supposed to get these if they're both Alliance towns???

EDIT: Never mind, got it as a secondary in a battle. Woot. :)

After re-logging twice and area-clearing out all the battle pets for over an hour, 3 Gryphons spawned near the flight path in Kirthaven. On the first Gryphon, a Rare Quality Gryphon came as the second pet. Thrilled.

Got my rare tonight...southwest of Crushblow...53, 80

I spent close to 3 hours farming for just an uncommon near both and between both towns as noted in the guide. All I could get at best was a common, so I followed the comments here and found a rare on my 2nd attempt off a rattlesnake just south of Krazzworks at the end of the bluff before you hit the beach below. One good thing that came out of all that time is that I got a rare of everything else also.

Caught a rare a a secont to a rattlesnake at 54.5,37.6. looks like seconds is easiest way to find these guys. feel good. first one i saw was a rare and he is mine

9/15 - Caught my rare just NE of the Black Breach.  I noticed that the secondary spawns are much further area than just near Kirthaven and Thundermar.  Specifically all the way NE too Krazzworks.  All the way NW to Maw of Madness.

9/16 - Looking for another rare for my wife.  Found another literally the exact same spot, same primary (Rattlesnake).  Could be coincidence but here is the WP just incase (61.1 30.4).

Came as third pet.  Easy enough, only took 2 wild pets to go thru to find one.

as horde not able to tame this guy from the camp however just went there starting fighting other critters and after the 4th or so fight this guy was in the group so tamen him , only common but i got one and will search for a rare :D he was in a group with a skunk 

well, i went try and get a marmot to lvl my pets and well there was this one and a skunk, and of course both were rare and well, i got creamed lol. but later was able to capture 2 uncommons of this little guy so adorablely cute. second one was right by wildhammer fp :)

I second all those saying you can pick this guy up as a second. I expected, like many of the others, that he was only available as a first. Not so. Happy hunting! ^.^

I am a Horde Troll and I found this little guy as a 2nd pet to a Shore Crab just out side of Dragonmaw Port. He is a poor but I really don't care.

Found them easy enough today in Thundermar and Kirthaven, but I'm Horde and it wouldn't let me battle them even though they have pet icons.  There was one hanging out by the flight path in Thundermar (which I killed trying to get it to battle) and two by the flight path in Kirthaven.  Back to battling other pets in hopes of getting lucky!
