This companion is a rare tier Fossil archaeology item. It is created by discovering and "solving" 120 fossil fragments.

Once completed, an entry on the Pterrordax Hatchling can be found in players' archaeology tab: "It's an adorable green baby pterrordax! Luckily, at this size, her sonic screeches won't turn your eardrums to bloody pulps and while she'll TRY to eat your face, it just feels like friendly little lizard-bird-thing kisses. Awww!"

I didnt know this baby existed until I was looking on the AH one day. Did a search on how to get him and found out that I had to go ahead and level my 570 arch to 600 to change in for fossils. Thinking I was going to be on a mission for several weeks I was pleseantly suprised after doing 2 rounds of fossils my 3rd was this baby. I just complete the 120 artifacts to get him using the Pandarian artifact trade in process. EXTREMELY excited now for that crawling hand :)

With the new Pandaren turning 'common' relics into those crates you can trade for other crates (like for example fossils) it's way easier to get this guy. You can find the guy who trades them at the same place the loremasters are. Though you'll have to grind for a bit, seeing as each relic only rewards one crate, in wich are somewhere between 5 and 9 fragments. You need to have your archeology up to 600 to be able to trade in crates.

Been wanting this little dude for a long time. I got back into Arch a few days ago know that I am back to serious pet hunting. I finally completed the last fossil assignment that I have had for months, my first new fossil work turned out to be this little guy! I was so excited I let out a little yell of victory and a happy dance and scared the crap out of my cats, lol! Keep on trucking folks!

Just got this pet, only missing the Crawling Claw from Archeology now. I've had pretty good luck with the pets, but haven't started making either of the mounts :(

Pet 150 for me!!! I won't forget this pet. I've always loved dinosaurs since I was a kid so I really dig this pet. I hope in the future blizzard comes out with a stegosaurus companion (fingers crossed). That was my favorite dino. I do most of my archeology in Kalimdor because I really want the Scepter of Azj'Aquir and Crawling Claw. Hopefully they'll be mine soon. Best of luck to anyone trying for any of the archaeology pets. All it takes is time and a bit of patience.

Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom have got an equal amount of digsites, which is 13. Kalimdor however has more sites overall above 450 skill level. So the chance for a fossil site to pop up (if we assume equal rates for all races) is hence higher in Eastern Kingdoms. (24 vs 19%)
Below the 450 skill level, the rate is the same(27%)

I have been doing archaeology like mad lately trying for the fossil mount or the troll sword. But was very pleasantly surprised by this little guy! I did get him in EK. And I have actually found a lot more fossil digsites there than Kamlidor which I found surprising.

Who would have guessed that digging for ancient treasures could yield a living dinosaur?! I sense a potential market for baby pre-historic creatures in my near future. Perhaps I shall create a theme park filled with all sorts of ancient critters. I shall call it... Azerothic Park!
