This battle pet is a beast! Unlike it's sprite darter hatchling brother it is a flying type. With that comes the 50% speed bonus! This speed boost pretty much ensures that you will go first and with evanescence it makes it last two rounds (initial cast and next round). Couple that with Moonfire that boosts Arcane Blast and you have a pet that can take down other pets to 25% health before you even get hit! Also with a breed type 4 and rare quality this pet has 341 attack at 25!
I find it really weird that the flavour text for this guy says it has a 'natural defense against magic', yet they gave it the flying type which takes 50% extra magic damage. Perhaps it was supposed to be a dragon type.
I have to say, this guy is a staple of my 'Beasts of Fable' team. Life Exchange is devastating against the 4k+ hp pets, even if you use it at full health it will take 1.3-1.5k off of the enemy. Add in that it can be used while they are using Liftoff/Dive/Burrow and it really makes battling them a breeze.
I do wish he was still flying though, I caught an attack breed and having 340 atk/390 spd above 50% hp was the best!
There are a ton of these guys around the area, so its great for levelling your pets XP as well. Not to mention they're completely beautiful! Shiny Cap'n!
Tons of these all over dire maul, Found a rare one pretty quickly
After days of trying for a rare, I finally got one. I'm sure I was well over 100 battles. The only nice thing about this much effort is how much it helped me level. These things respawn so far, I just kept rotating level 9 pets in. Leveled 12 pets to lvl 10 from farming this rare, lol
a lovely pet, located around and on top of the unistanced dire maul in feralas (kalimdor) i got there by getting a boat from booty bay and flew the rest of the way on my flying mount, way easier than the other faerie dragon i suspect (=-P.
Good luck!
When I fought the trainer by Dire Maul. His Nether Faerie Dragon was Dragonkin and not Flying. Did anyone else notice this?
They are located around the old non-instance Dire Maul!
Lots of uncommons then finally a rare after the 44th battle :)
dont wory about forfiting a grey just find a rare they are everywhere
Ok so it's a dragonkin now? It doesn't do dragon kin damage. I went against a pet that issusceptible to dragon kin and it didnt do any damage more than regular. I think it's dragonkin in name only.
Plenty of them by the outer walls of Dire maul. 3rd battle gave me rare one.
Yes, as Koneko mentions. This used to be a Flying pet, now (as per 5.1) a Dragonkin. Which makes it exactly like my Sprite Darter Hatchling. Same abilities. How lame. I liked how it looked like a Dragonkin and had abilities like one but was a Flying. Maybe to trick someone in a battle. But that time is over. /sadface
I was levelling this to be my first flying pet to 25.
Disappointed to log in today and find that after 5.1 it is now considered dragonkin.
After 20 or something battles caught a rare with 530hp, just before was an uncommon with 517hp; became 636hp, 122 attack, 143 speed.
upd: to the previous comment: I actually tried to capture a rare Jade Oozeling and have only uncommons with 517, 551, 572, 606, 661, 688 hp, so in the beginning I didn't even try to capture Dragon below 600+, it's only after reading comments here I gave 530+ a try, and it worked.
unlike what some people are saying if it has 530+ heqalth does not mean rare. I tamed 12 of these with over 540 health that were uncommon not rare. my rare was 530 health before capture. Became 636 health, 150 attack and 114 speed.
The very first sighting was when I was completing the EK questline and Taming EK.. right beside the battle tamer. I got him and he was a rare. Super cute great for the pet collection
I haven't tested it in PvP, but Evanescence will block two attacks if it goes first. It probably will with the speed boost. Vs. other flying things, it gets a +50% boost on already massive damage abilities. You see quite a bit of them, so even without healing, this thing is still a powerhouse to use while collecting pets.
I never really looked at this pet, I got an uncommon on my first try, guess I'm lucky, might try to train this pet latter... Oh, I named her Chinaette... Sounded like CH-i-Na-e-t-e. But, I still think the Pandaren Monk is better... Hint: around the ogers. (Spelling?)
