The Gilnean Raven is a trainable pet in Mists of Pandaria. However, only Worgen are offered this option from Battle Pet Trainers. Once learned, all characters will have access to this pet. Worgen may also learn this pet from Audrey Burnhep in Stormwind.
NOTE: Once this pet is learned, it cannot be learned again from the trainer even if the pet is caged and sold.

Remember fellow tamers, Elemental Pets are immune to weather effects, so there is only a 50-50 chance of hitting them with Nocturnal Strike. I team this bad boy with Ghostly Skull to great success.
This is a WONDERFULL battle pet together with Feral Vermling and Bog Beast they make a team which can beat 85% of pet-teams.
Nocturnal Strike however does not seem to work so well on elemental pets. Don't ask me why, but it does mucho damage on humanoids.
I leveled a toon up just to get this pet... things we do for a pet haven't leveled him yet.. but i did make him a rare
Does anyone know how pets are dodging my Nocturnal Strike when the weather is Darkness???
Nocturnal Strike specifically reads:
"Always hits if the target is blinded."
http://www.warcraftpets.com/abilities/flying/nocturnal-strike/
And Call Darkness reads:
"During Darkness, all pets are considered Blinded"
http://www.warcraftpets.com/abilities/humanoid/call-darkness/
The opposing pets were NOT Elemental types, therefore they should have been blinded by the weather...
What minimum level worgen can get this pet?
Now that the Raven is equalized, which would be a better pet to stone:
Crow~ P/S H 1400 P 289 S 289
versus
Raven~ B/B H 1481 P 276 S 276
mainly for PvE purposes?
Brilliant Kaliri, Jade Tentacle, Tirisfal Batling, Firefly, Jade Crane Chick, Gilnean Raven, and Shore Crawler are no longer available in multiple breeds.
On the 5.2 PTR, if Nevermore procs, the raven now shouts "Nevermore!"
I think this raven is one of the best flying pets for pet battles. Reducing the oponents healing outcome is quite powerfull and blinding them is really great for its nocturnal strike.
I wanted the Darkness this guy casts badly enough to create and level a Worgen. Now all I need is a stone to make my Gilnean rare, and I'll be a happy collector.
I've been scouring Darkmoon Faire for a rare Raven, but nothing better than Common so far. One day...
Racial pets can only be learned ONCE per toon. aka 1 raven cageable per lvl 13+ worgan
Got this for a friend of mine who refuses to play Worgen.
Don't know if its intentional or a bug, though.
Here is what I've done:
- bought the Raven with Worgen #1
- caged the Raven and gave it to my friend
"Problems" that occur after caging:
- Worgen #1 was unable to buy it again (it said "already known")
- none of my chars could summon it (greyed out)
Solution:
- bought the Raven with my Worgen #2
- can summon it with all my chars
Intentional or bug though?
Is there an update on this pet? I went to look at it and it says passive on the skill. If I can only get this once I want to be totally sure its the right pet ie. a fighting pet and is unique.
I love this pet. They designed the look of it really well.
as I now have to go get this thing.. was looking for a pet that had call darkness under 20.. you can get the scourge whelp at around 21-22 ish.. and I have one.. but I want to try out my soul of the aspect's surge of light skill.. man.. why wolfman.. WHY??! oh well.. wolfman for the loss... update, got it. leveling him now, he's 4! as we speak. can't wait for 5.1 so i can upgrade him to rare!
Weirdly the raven doesn't seem to actually fly. When you take off on your mount it's dismissed like a ground pet. bug?
I was unable to train the Panda version of this because of the same 'requires' bug. However, ticketing a GM and explaining the situation let me get the companion 'trained' to me. Therefore, if you're being bitten by this bug, opening a ticket is probably your best chance until Blizzard fixes this bug.
Is there a way, without making a new worgen, to get multiples of this pet? I dont know if any one sells it once you've learned it. I can't find any information on it.
I just experienced the exact same problem trying to get this as Lyte did. "Battle Pet Training (passive)" is taunting me. I made a worgen tonight for the sole purpose of having a raven companion.
I'm hoping for some suggestions before I open a ticket.
Is there a way to get a Rare version of this pet? Mine was uncommon.
