This pet was formerly known as 'Prairie Chicken'. As of patch 3.1, horde characters are also able to obtain the CLUCK! quest in the same manner as alliance characters:
Find any chicken critter in Azeroth and repeatedly do the '/chicken' emote to it. Eventually the chicken's name plate will turn from yellow to green and you'll see the message "Chicken looks up at you quizzically. Maybe you should inspect it?" Speak to the chicken and you'll receive the CLUCK! quest. To complete the quest you'll need a bag of Special Chicken Feed (vendor in Westfall for alliance; Tirisfal Glades for horde). When the quest is complete, an egg will spawn. Loot this egg to receive the pet.

My shaman picked up one of these birds all the way from Westfall. She was so excited that she decided to spoil her new fowl with some friends. She got him an ancona playmate, but that wasn't enough so she got him a mechanical playmate too! Now she bears the nickname "Chicken Lady" and no, her brain is not the size of a walnut. (That was my homage to 'Kids in the Hall' — thought I'd share that considering only three of you got the reference...)

Just did this quest 3 times. lol Drove my husband crazy...not to metion felt real silly if other characters went by. According to my addon I got two B/B and one S/B. Can anyone confirm that these are the only breeds available for these guys? If so, then I'm good, but if there's another stat combo available, I'd kinda like to see if I can get it! I kept one B/B and the S/B for the time being. Not using any stones just yet until I confirm breed options. Thanks! :)
You've got to /flap at chicken critters, not the wild battlepet chickens. That had me going for a while -_- Also, make a macro /flap to save time.
Wow, does this quest make you feel like an idiot or what :)
Tried it on "the" chicken in the Brill graveyard to no avail, so went south to Westfall and nailed it almost first time of asking. It works...provided you don't mind looking like a complete fool for a few minutes.
3 bags of feed... alot of clucking...3 westfall chickens... life is good :)
This DOES work!! not 5 minutes ago I did this on Khaz'Goroth server with a lvl 32 Undead Warlock - TWICE!
I am now the newest owner of two lovely uncommon Westfall Chickens!
The trick is to do the /chicken on a wild (yellow critter) spawn, and NOT one that you have caught!
I can tell you from my perspective this does not work at all. I bought the special chicken feed, tried doing this with all my chickens, got rid of one rare just to catch a fresh one nearby and tried it with it. This isn't doing squat. I have tired out my hand clicking that stupid macro. Human mage, lvl 70 was doing the dirty work. I have to wonder if only races or roles can do it or if MoP 5.1 has made it unworkable. Hand is tired, I'm letting this rest.
I found you can repeat the quest 3 times before the ! goes away. I've been trying to spawn a rare chicken or seeing the stats. I've cycled about 30 eggs now (still all uncommon)
Anyone ever loot a rare westfall chicken? or do we need to feed it that pet food to increase it's rarity?
this was really easy, make a macro /chicken and spam it on one chicken, after a few tryes it will give you the quest, be sure to have a bag of Special Chicken Feed on you before you spam the chicken
NOTE: you **DO NOT** have to /cheer the chicken any more!!! i lost the quest 5 times (and *lots* of minutes of my time) by doing this
just feed the stupid thing when it gives you the quest; make sure that you have the feed FIRST, and it helps keep critter-killers away if you put a mark (they laughed @ my skull, but were otherwise respectful) on your bird
I tried to do this since the MOP expansion, and instead of getting the quest, they turn from regular chickens into battle pet chickens. *sad face* I want a Westfall Chicken!
(edit) Got it today, maybe the patch had something to do with it. My 100th pet :D
Luckily the chicken respawned. I had to /chicken all over again though. lol
I gave up and went to Westfall and w/in a few clucks and a human lvl 18 warrior yelling at me, I got my chicken.
