This is the first pet I ever farmed because I loved the show Firefly. I wish the show was "Still flying..." Ah well, at least my pet didn't get cancelled.

A good farming route for this pet is to move along the upper rim of Serpent Lake going east, starting just east of the Ogre settlements, ending at the Naga settlements, and then cycling back to the beginning. The respawn rate is decently high as well; if you take your time, you can literally constantly kill them.

It took nearly two years on and off (just my horrid luck), but I think this little peach is worth it. :3

This pet used to have the flavor text "Still flying..." when the pets were used as items, a quote which ironically comes from Firefly.

Sadly, now that pets are used a spells, the awesome quote is now gone.

Well, dont know if I have to consider myself really unlucky, or if it is just normal to kill 1004 mobs, and farm for almost 7 hours without getting any =(

I have also waited and hoped in finding some kind of luck in the server's reset, but I was wrong...

Well, I hope ill be more lucky tomorrow.

Finally got mine after 1058 loots and 4hrs 44 mins :D Takes a lot to farm, but is oh so more rewarding than buying from the AH ;)

this pet was a pain in the butt, almost two months of killing 100 a day in zangermarsh on the back wall...yes i have no live get over it. i finally got his butt on 5-23-10 @9:40ish am....yes i recorded that. still wish it had "still flyin'" with it as i am a huge firefly fan and yes i know it was cancel but to true direhard fans it will never die ;-P

Words I never thought I'd hear from my husband at 5 in the morning. "Do you still need a caged firefly, because I just mailed one to you."

I'd pretty much given up farming for this one since cross realm zones were introduced as every time I'd been by lately the Needlers were camped.

Getting a little frustrated with this one. Been working on it some each day for over a week now. Sure would be nice if they were closer together and spawned like whelps in wetlands but at least I don't have to "deal with" having to skin these. :/

So yeah, about 20+ total mobs and oddly they don't seem to respawn at a regular rate. So if you rerun the path too quickly you will miss some.

Just got it on the 68th, yes... 68th kill. :-) Ok sold that one for 18k... didn't think it would sell but someone snatched it right up. Farmed another and this one took 458 kills... still pretty good. Gl getting yours.

Ok here goes with the luck theory of posting....
At over 3000 kills and bored of the rainy weather here, hoping that mentioning will bring luck :-)

400 kills and he dropped. Very fast one only had to grind him for 70-80 minutes! =) BTW, if anyone is gonna go looking for pets off of drops its a good idea to go with a druid. Instant flight makes it very fast!

I recently decided to begin farming this pet, because I love fireflies so much. My significant other warned me that he spent nearly a week farming it.

Thirty minutes later? He was mine! I don't think he spoke to me for a week.

My route? left of the lake heading north, round the top and back again. That was it.

I was in Zangar trying to get the book for fish tracking, when i decided to kill these little guys, blizzard must feel bad about how long its taking me to get the whelps cause this dropped after about 20 kills :)

Does anyone know the details of the change with multiple breeds on this?

 

Does it mean that anyone who has this, the stats have changed to the one breed?

 

Or does it mean any new drops will only be of one breed?

 

And what is the breed?

My druid's worg once got curious about what a firefly tastes like. So he swallowed one whole. Can you guess what happened? He barked with de-light! *guffaws* Get it!? De-LIGHT! Hahahah! *pauses* Don't look at me like that. It's not easy to think of something funny to say about a firefly, ya know.
