Oh, this thing is so suicidal. Took an hour to snag my uncommon H/S, and even had my team killed because I found an uncommon H/P coupled with a rare Twilight Spider. So make sure you don't lower it's health too much if it hasn't used takedown (or whatever the PokeWoW equivalent is called) because it will die.
Found the only rare (out of probably at least 50 direct battles or checks on Crimson Geodes) and it almost died. Took itself down to 6 health and I caught it. Phew! It was a H/H. I found it in Halcyon Egress, which had no mobs and no other players around. I'm not sure if I was phased or what, but I had the place to myself with no interruptions. (Unlike searching for them in Crimson Expanse, which has creatures and players all over.)

This guy is a glass cannon. Elementium Bolt is great when it hits. Amplify Magic is also a good choice. Especially against a burrower. You can get off the Bolt and then Amplify before he has to take any damage if the burrower goes to ground right awy. And it makes the cutest tinkling noise when it gets hit. Almost like wind chimes. He has one-shot many pets for me. Or died like a level 1 poor in a nano-second. :)
Easy fight to get one. My Voodoo Figurine grabbed 2 uncommons, never had to switch pets till the 3rd. Crimson Expanse in afternoon hours, saw about 6.
This is my new favorite pet for burst damage! I have a level 25 Rare Crimson Geode, and I beat Grand Master Aki with it. Love it.
Trapped a rare and two uncommon this morning. I found my frog to be the best at keeping them alive. 1-2 hits with water jet then a frog kiss or two… keep them at/above 300 health and trap ‘em as quickly as possible!
Just got a Summit Kid in Kun-Lai, I see what you mean about the Turkey Food Coma. Used it's sleep spell 'Sooth' to capture a Kun-Lai Runt and he snored all the way through the end of the battle!
Farmed this guy fer days in Deepholm to get my rare. one killed it self, I killed one on accident /wrists, and finally after they all spawned up again I got my rare =) I named mine BAM due to this combo - Elementium bolt, his amp. magic, then feedback. If they happen to still be alive after they are stunned and just BAM em with another feedback. I used him to kill that accursed Major Pain in the Ass Trainers pet the Mechanopeep. Amp magic and stone rush 2 shot @ lvl 20 fer the win =)
after 6 greys/ commons i got my rare, crimson expanse.
Really like this guy in battle find him great for battling pets with big heals, like the pet tamer in Ice Crown with the Bear that hibernates.
Throw out an Elementium Bolt then an Amplyfy Magic and 2 Feedback's should have most pets dead or hurting bad.

Another good place to farm the Crimson Geode is the Halcyon Egress.
Aye, ignore the comments saying there are none on the Crimson Expanse. I did a lap 18:00 server time and found 12 spawns. No rares, but several uncommons.
8 spawned at 1:23am on the back side of the crimson expanse. Tom Tom was 74/37
Thank you so much for the tip on using a turkey and putting the geode to sleep. It was the only way I was able to get one.
Got a rare tonight, luckely he didn't have the "selfdestruct" abillities so it was an easy catch for me. Godo luck!
Crimson Expanse ist not the best place to tame this pet. When flying around there, I found only one or two per about 15 minutes, with a similar spawn rate like the turkey in Valgarde.
Finally found "tons" of them a bit more to the north on the lower level plateu with the giants and on the way from there to the twilight hammer. Was about 11:30pm, after midnight the population was almost gone and there was no to less respawn.

I did not find any Crimson Geodes in the Crimson Expanse or anywhere else in Deephole. I did see TONS of Crimson Shale Hatchlings. I will keep looking.
EDIT: After about an hour flying around the Crimson Expanse I finally found one it was stuck on the hill in the middle so could not tame it, then found 2 more and they BOTH killed themselves because the crappy trap kept missing. The 3rd one I found I used a turkey with the food coma ability to put the Crimson Geode to sleep and that FINALLY worked.
Def. located in Crimson Expanse, captured rare, he had just over 1100hp b4 capt. after has 1247/270/205, must add, his fight for some reason was easier than a poor quality geode.
Lots of these guys in Crimson Expanse finally got my rare after about an hour of "poor's". 8:30pm Server, they have moths and deepholm roaches with them all level 23's.
