In years prior, this pet could be found in Lord Ahune's Ice Chest. As of 2010, it no longer drops from Ahune.

In Patch 4.2 (June 2011), the Searing Scorchling became a random drop found within Zen'vorka's Cache. The vendor that sells this cache may only be unlocked upon completion of the new Hyjal questing hub and storyline, up to and including the three vendor specific quests. Check out our Community Guide: Unlocking the Mount Hyjal Vendors for more information.

The cache costs 30 Marks of the World Tree.

The Scorchling draws attention because he is glowing and leaves a trail. It is also totally cool when he fireballs critters. I wish there were more elemental pets. We get this guy and the Kirin Tor. I hope they eventually add one for each of the schools of magic... or the elemental planes to be all cataclysm-esque.

Edit: They added Frigid Frostling :) a few planes left

Willy (with an eye beam) and KT (with a frost tomb) nuke critters as well. And the Toxic Wasteling "eats" critters.

GOOD NEWS! This pet is once more available when 4.2 is released. According to PTR testers, it has a chance to drop from Zen'Vorka's Cache, which is bought from Zen Vorka for 30 marks of the world tree. No information on drop %'s yet.

Having completed the first 30 days of grinding, I can now repeatedly grind for the bags. And when I get this pet, I'm calling it Pita.

I had > 800 marks on my toons when I started farming back in sept (2013).  Wowhead drop rate says 5%.  That means 30 marks a day (dailies), 1 cache / day = 1 pet every 20 days.  I should have 5 by now by that rate!  :(  There's no way it's 5%!

Got it on my third bag! I never thought I'd get this pet, was only doing the dailies as I was low on gold (how I hate those dailies) and was pleasantly surprised. Now I just have get the last random NPC to /wave at and I never have to go near the Firelands dailies again! :D

I am truly hated by the RNG gods.

I've done the full dalies since early August (I was one of the first to complete all the precursor quests, starting no later then the 2nd day it was possible to buy the cache), 31 tokens a day, missing only about 20 days and I still haven't had him drop.

This pet if you happen to be unlucky has to be the worst grind in history. Its not enough to complete the whole fire thing and unlock the mount. You still got to buy bags for a chance each day and maybe 2 if your lucky that day comes each week. I did this for maybe 2 weeks after the massive monthly grind and caved in. My girlfriend happened to have done the rep grind on her main and alts and said she deleted the scorchlings (fell off my chair). Safe to say she did it for a week and happened to get one for me.

Great pet but can be a long old grind to get. The Fel Flame has an identical move set (as does the Spirit of Summer) and is far easier to farm in Shadowmoon Valley.

It's a random drop from the Cache; you also get another item in addition to the Scorchling. It can also drop again after you already have it; like the pet gators in Shattrath, you have to delete the item to get rid of it.

Once you have completed all the quests on the Molten Front, you have access to a total of 31 Marks of the World Tree a day. So you get a new chance to get this every day, and an extra chance after a month. Good luck!

A blue poster confirmed that while the Scorchling is permanently removed from Midsummer Festival, it's not gone.

It will return and it'll have company: mini elementals of the other elements! How they will be obtainable we can only speculate, but since in Cataclysm we will be traveling in all four of the Elemental Planes, it wouldn't be hard to find a reputation, a quest or a mob to tie them with.

You may defeat Lord Ahune once per day on heroic mode, and once a day from the regular slave pens daily you get from the npc right before the Ice Stone.
Heroic mode allows for a retry if you fail over and over until you down Lord Ahune (gives you a badge on heroic, so it saves you to the instance for a that day).
But on regular, once you get the daily and turn it in; if you fail to kill Lorn Ahune-you lose the chance for The Scortchling, until daily's reset. (or unless you have more people) GL!!

I had finished the grind for this zone years ago. Decied to go back today and have a shot at obtaining the Scorchling. Purchased my first cache and received some random green. Purchased a second bag and woot!! Got the pet. Don't give up.

Help!

I know that to achieve this pet, I have to complete the ancients missions, travel to the Molten Front and then, buy it. The thing is that I already have the mission (not done) to start it (the mission which tells you to go to help some people in Mount Hyjal), but I can't do it, cause when I look for the location of mission in the map, it doesn't say anything.. Could it be because I only have the Cataclysm expansion or do I have to do anything special?

:)
