Patch 5.0.4 | Posted: November 27, 2012
After completing the quest Zen Master Aki, the quest chain for the Pandaren Spirit Tamers will unlock.

Completing the initial Pandaren Spirit Tamer quest will allow players to choose one of four pets. It will also unlock the Spirit Tamer dailies, which reward Pandaren Spirit Pet Supplies.

The bag reward from each different Spirit Tamer daily has a chance to drop a corresponding pet, so it's possible to acquire all four pets; Pandaren Air Spirit, Pandaren Earth Spirit, Pandaren Fire Spirit, and Pandaren Water Spirit.

I always try to take the Aquatic first with some type of Glowfly, something that can caccoon.  Once you know the fight, you can time the caccoon to block most of their big attachs.  My Glowfly always lasts until the second round and I soften up Water Elemental so a Emperor Crab or strider can take her down.  A spider is also good against the critter.  I think I'll name this one Katara.

Aww shucks, As of 7.0 Whirlpool is gone and Dive is in so much for the patch notes listing all the battle pet changes.

I'll miss the howl bomb, I wonder who else has been effected.

I guess in 7.0 we'll miss the Howl bomb. Thank you, Pandaren Water Spirit for all the battles we won together!

I believe this is the only pet that gives you the option to use both Whirlpool and Geyser. Other Aquatics that have these abilities usually have them in the same slot, so you must choose one. This combined with any pet that has Howl makes it absolutely lethal against almost all single pet boss fights. Just make sure to hit Geyser first or the combo won't work right.

I wish I had taken this one for the original pick.  I have battled this stupid elemental every day for three months and no sign of this missing spirit.  I have duplicates of all the others but yet to get one of these.   I wonder if Blizz nerfed the drop rate as they used to be cheap on the AH, now they are outrageous.

Howlbomb was a gimmick that trivialized quite a few fights.  And while it was fun while it lasted, they couldn't not nerf it.  Us players should be the ones who have to come up with new strats to defeat enemies, instead howlbomb being the "boss ability" that the developers would have to counter in each fight.

While geyser can still be useful in combos, because of its delay and its stun. PWS is the weakest hitting geyser pet, but it's a lot less fragile than others.

Well the moving of abilities around so they are the same as other water pets is, irritating, to say the least.

I guess we will have to make a few changes and grow as pet trainers by rejigging the battle pets, I'm sure we will be fine, just an annoying change for no real reason.

This change make PWS less useful now, pretty much the same as other water pets with the same specs.

Love this cute guy.  Devastating combo with the chrominius.  yet again, Need to find other use for my cute pets that just chew grass around and never see a battle.  There must be other combinations to be seen and I am first pointed out to try other deadly teams.

For almost all Legendary Pandaran pets and Tanaan Jungle pets(Except Gazer, he requires a Zandalari Anklerender) you start with Geyser, Whirlpool and then swap to any pet with Howl. Chrominius is standard because you can Bite then Surge of Power while Howl is still up. A Darkmoon Tonk used to be the standard follow up pet but I have found a Crusher to be perfect with his near invulnerable Shell Armor to clean up the remaining pets in Tanaan Jungle.

Da Rock!  Foundation of the infamous "Howl Bomb" a must have for any serious battler.  He might not have the post after post on how long he was camped or how difficult to battle to get, yet out of a handful of steady get'er'done pets, he's my reliable go to guy, luv u Rocky!

Just keep in mind that two pets like to frequently cast tidal wave if you want to train a pet here. In fact the water spirit HAS to cast tidal wave because everything else is on cooldown quite often.

Water spirits are especially mischievous, and are known to frequent the canals of the Stormstout Brewery.
