Blizzard introduced an event called The Spirit of Competition to commemorate the 2008 Olympic Games. Throughout the event, this pet was randomly mailed to players who were victorious after any PvP battleground. There was a 1 in 8 chance it would be mailed to a player for each battleground won.

Easily the best pet to battle with.  Huge heal and very large damage spells to combine with.

 

I use this as my Anchor, as it has always been the strongest in my groups.

Despite Blizzard's earlier claim the "Spirit of Competition" would be an event that would occur every two years to commemorate the Olympics, no such event occurred in 2010. One hopes there will be such an event again in 2012! Would be nice to get a chance for this pet again, or even a new pet for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

I hate this pet. Now before I get flamed for that, let me explain.
When I first started playing WoW, I had one toon. When the Olympics came around I pushed my hardest to get this little guy. One of the best pets in the game. Hands down.
About a month later, I realized that I sucked at playing a warrior and started up a shaman, who became my main toon. Now everytime I log on to my warrior (he's been down-graded to banker) I'm reminded that my main will never have this most-awesome of pets.

Love this guy, been one of my favorites for the longest time. Now that I can battle with him, Spirity is kicking some butt for me.

Love this pet.  Was the pet that helped me through leveling my first set of pets to 25.  If you have this, I highly recommend this for battles.

I got this pet when I was a newbie to the game, and I was just trying out pvp for the first time when the Spirit of Competition event came about. This little guy was a constant companion as I leveled into Outland and Northrend.

When this was first on the servers... it bugged for me... I had spammed several bg's and never got it... which I still hate... Do hope they bring it back someday, would love to get one...

I obtained this pet on my hunter, but not my druid which is my main. Sadly, this was before you could "learn" pets so obtained it on my hunter in order to save inventory space. Ugh I'd give anything to be able to switch it from my hunter to my druid. /: I still kick myself for only getting it on my hunter.. ;_;

I would love to see this pet brought back for London 2012. I am always thrilled to see a new pet but another chance at this would be awesome.

There used to be a web page on Blizzard site that promised Olympics every 2 years. Conveniently that page is missing and 2010 has gone by without anything about Olympics or this pet. That really sucked because I wanted this one on my main. I did some 100 BGs the last time and never got the pet. I did just one on an alt, and she got it.

Does anyone else think it's odd they aren't doing it during the actual event of the Winter Olympics this year? I'm cool they are doing it every two years, but i think it's silly to have it in the summer and not during the winter festivities.

Great battler.... take this guy to so7s and level any pet from 1 to 25 with 30-40 pet battles.  He can handle any aquatic and flying mob solo, just let your leacher have one whack and let SoC do the rest....  Also Onyx Spawn works well also

I can't wait for Mists. I have this little guy on my Horde warrior I don't play anymore and it will be nice to see him in my Ally Pet Collector toon's inventory.

I will definitely rock this one our in pet battles.

I had this on my Rogue before I transferred him to another server , then he was just gone. I put in a ticket and the Gm told me tough luck. :( I wish I still had him

Maybe we'll see a comeback for this companion in the coming summer! Seeing how the olympics are then again etc. One can only hope, I was so sad I missed out on this guy because I took a summer break.

i have this pet on my main an im glad i got it, at the time i was ok at pvp but not the best so my friend took over and ranked me number 1 in a BG and i got it :)... im sad they didnt do a pet for vancouver, and if they do a pet for London, i think theres a good chance they will reuse this pet since MoP is coming up. i would prefer that they make a new pet to match london like they matched beijing, but i would be happy either way.
