This pet is excellent for battling with just about any wild pet you wish to tame.  It can heal itself more than many other pets, and does a fair bit of damage with some spicy fire breath.  I keep this as one of my main three.

Ugh, i took this pet into Onyxias Lair, and Onyxia kept using the deep breath. Many of us nearly died because of Onyxias fire. We had a great victory in defeating her, though. Now, i am haunted by the emote: Onyxia takes in a deep breath... and then a HUGE burst of flames. So now, when I see the emote: Onyxian Whelpling takes in a deep breath... i jump and think "Oh my gosh, Onyxia's taking in a deep breath! RUN!" and then i realize: Oh, its just the whelp... lol, true story.

I think this pet is very cute =P. My sisters deleted theres after they trained it since it makes you keep it but I saved mine for when I make future toons, like a worgen. I will be able to send them the Baby Blizzard Bear and this Onyxian Whelpling.

This was my first whelpling! I love it! Now i take it on my whelp hunting missions and soon into the onyxia raid its self! Ha ha!

I just love my little Ony! It's my favorite pet right now and I take him everywhere with me, I even have an addon set up to make sure he's out (unless I'm in PVP that is) so that he can enjoy all the beautiful scenery the world has to offer. I wish he could actually fly when I do though, then I wouldn't have to watch the ground from above to make sure he stays out of mischief. lol

This onyxian whelpling is adorable in a very straange way. I love him, and I have trained my other whelps to treat him nicely, even if his eyes are a bit googly!

The color on this matches well with the Magnificent Flying Carpet, and Tattered Dreadmist Robe. Makes a nice ensemble, too bad they didn't upgrade it to be one of the flying pets.

You can trigger her breathing the ring of smoke by typing /breath and waiting a bit. It will come up "You tell Onyxian whelpling to take a deep breath." Then after a bit of time passes it will go, "Onyxian Whelpling takes in a deep breath." and boom! The cute ring of smoke comes out!

Between the Proto Drake, Lil' KT and Ony Whelp, I don't know what to make as my favorite. I will say this. Setting up to take down Ony in 25 with everyone having their Whelps out was just too awesome. I will have to get a screen-shot. During loot, I bet 15 of the things blew their smoke rings at the same time. Was priceless.

I dont know about its cute or ugly.
Still its one of the best designed pets ingame, but only on second (lil' kt is the best designed pet ever!).
I just hate it because all players atm got it. it sucks!
Maybe 2-3 years out in the future it might be alot cooler.

It's a whelping. It's still growing..ugly animals usually (not always) grow up to be magnificent. Hm, do we really want have a million or so whelpings growing up to be the next Onyxia?

Warning! With Deadly Boss Mods installed and this pet out, the Onyxia encounter can be somewhat deceptive. As the whelping casts Breath, DBM picks this up as Onyxia herself doing it and will shout out a warning! This occurred today in a 10 man group, we all had our Whelps out during trash and it kept setting DBM off, which proved a bit confusing during the actual encounter.

Very very cute pet though imo :D

A good macro for summoning him:

It'll yell "Many whelps! Handle it!" on summon, but not on dismissal. Enjoy!

They really need to make Onyxia's actual whelplings look like this! And making this fly along with mounts should be a top priority!

I'm happier than a kobold with a candle that this pet is on its way out. Onyxia has always been a favorite encounter of mine and re-releasing the dungeon for the new expansion was a wonderful bit of fan appreciation on Blizzard's part. This goes the extra mile, however, by giving every player a piece of that nostalgia that they can carry around with them.

Did I mention it deep breathes?! EPIC!

Who knew that Onyxia and Egbert had a thing going? What would Deathwing say? Obviously, his outrage over these googly-eyed great-grandchildren is what will cause him to erupt from the earth and cause the Cataclysm. So to keep your whelpling safe from Grandpa Deathwing, try concealing him in a massive flock of whelplings. And then if you're feeling frisky, taunt him by shouting, "Many whelps! Deal with it!"
