This pet is the cause of my Petomania. A friend told me that there are several dragons to farm, the easiest (a blue one) in Aszshara. I've killed like 1000s of the elites and was tired. But than it dropped. You all know the feeling, right? This feeling led me to farm every single Pet i can obtain - And so to this site =)

I am killing the Yetis. I like them best because:
1. There are many in one area so you can kill multiples and loot together - spawn quickly.
2. They don't drop a lot of junk that fills up your inventory.
3. I can skin them.
4. Tons of critters around to kill if you need for guild achiev. or like killing spiders.
5. Inside cave there are mines (even though I don't mine)
6. They drop Rune Cloth. Can be used for Reputation, Tailoring, First Aid, and other things.

Still didn't drop yet :(

When I met my now-fiance (we met at the Duskwood flight path), this is the first gift he ever gave me. I was shocked that he would go to the trouble to farm it for me. He's still one I pull out in raids. Boyfriend is our MT so whenever the azure comes out, he knows I'm thinking about him, encouraging him.

If you're farming for this little guy and need to repair and/or empty your bags, there's a husband and wife (presumably) pair of vendors located at 45, 91. Lower levels will want to watch out for the giant as they approach the path down to the building. There's also some rare patterns here that tend to sell pretty well on the AH.

I know everyone always goes crazy for the Emerald Whelp because he is the rarest of the four. The Azure is technically the most common, but I really think this one is the prettiest of the four farmed whelps. His color is the brightest. Maybe that's why he's in more people's collections: more people farm for him.

Actually, Xarcus, if you look at Thottbot/Wowhead you'll see it DOES drop as a zone drop. Unfortunately, the drop rate is closer to 1/10,000 now. There have been drops from Winterfall furbolgs, shardtooth bears, yetis, chimaeras, ghosts....

The mobs you're seeing with the higher rates (the Kel'theril ghosts, for example) are likely mobs that respawn faster, and so there's more data for them since people farm them more often.

That said, please update the drop rate on this!

A suggestion to those farming this pet since world drop farms are the most painful. If you don't have the timbermaw rep start working on that because it then serves a purpose to the farming (and at least for me makes it easier) or if you haven't finished/or have never done all the quests in winterspring then work on those. I farmed the rep for the timbermaw and the pet did drop for me although it may not be the case since it's 1/10,000 drop. Don't give up hope on this little scaley beauty!

The good thing about this dragonling is that it's easily farmable, unlike the other 3. It may take some time for it to drop, but the mobs are lined up in a very nice route, so you can simply circle the lake. Just remember to come with lots of bagspace, since the nearest vendor is a couple of minutes away.
Took me about 4 hours for it to drop.

Only 753 kills since i started counting - which was after doing all the quests. Not bad - I came back and did the Timbermaw rep and only seven days into the Wintersaber trainers rep grind. Quite happy with this farming session and brings up my 145th. Black Tabby next...

Have been farming this now for a few days, 1300 kills later still nothing. Im finding the frostsaber cats the best as theres so many of them and i can skin them so make some gold while at it. Sure hope to get it soon though :)

Keep the faith if your still hunting this little guy. I got mine today off a Winterfall Ursa. East of Everlook. I don't think that matters though. Zone drop could be anything. Hunted him heavy on and off between levels 54-64. Good Luck to Ya!

Keep in mind now that the pet is 1in10000 it's classed as zone drop. And therefore is really difficul to farm.
Keep looking on the AH. on some realms because it has dropped so little people may be selling it at a pre-cata market price (1k,2k,3k).
If you see it at any of these prices (or just anything below 5k) then it's really worth just buying it as (assumiing you're Lv85) you can make the money much faster than killing 10000 mobs.

Farming now for 4 weeks, 20 days for the daily mount quest plus another 7 days or so, 2-3 hours each day while doing random dungeons. Nothing. Went from level 59-65 and with all the drops and leather I could probably buy one.

I'm getting very frustrated about this *your favorite curse word here* azure whelpling. I have been hunting for it in Winterspring for 20 days now, 15 min to 3 hours a day and nothing. I did all the quests in Winterspring, got exalted with Timbermaw Hold all the way from friendly (though that's much easier now) and am on day 19 of the Wintersrping Cub quest line. I have now done all the Winterspring quests on a lvl 50 (now 58) alt and still no luck. I hate you Azure Whelpling.

My lucky day: First I looted a Disgusting Oozeling in Svamp of Sorrows and then this from a spider in Winterspring, pet number 106 & 107 in one day!
And I didn't even know it was moved, just going for the 58 quest achi. Thinking of the tons of hours i spent in Winterspring in the past, getting exalted with Timbermaw Hold and Wintersaber Trainers, it was pure luck I decided to go back to the zone again.
So, dont just grind for pets. Grind for other achievements too, makes it less boring.

I started with this as my first Whelpling to farm and WOW, is it easy! I originally attempted at the Dark Whelpling, but I was getting nowhere and I really wanted the Azure one. Even if someone else is farming with you, you still have a great chance to get it. There's enough mobs with a fast enough spawn rate, that if you head either a little more south (or north), you won't bother them and still have a very good chance at it yourself!

I know a ton of pet collectors who are gonna be thrilled to add a blue whelpling to their collections. Finally a cobalt cousin to join the black, red, and green dragon whelps. Yup… Azshara's about to get a whole lot busier! Funny — I never thought I'd utter those words.
