After about 50 of the battles in Dreadwastes, I've found that either I'm the most unluckiest pet collector of them all, or 5/15 build doesn't exist. Not even remotely close to a 5/15 build in the least. None of the pets. Absolutely poppycock. >.<

I had much better luck capturing a rare Silkbead Snail than I did one of these guys.  Mine is (somewhat sadly) an 18, but as the Silkbead and the Rapana have the same abilities, I definitely recommend them for the Spirit Tamers if your luck is similar to mine.

Had a spare Critter stone, so I used it on a poor-quality Breed 5. I only encountered poors and commons even after a hour, but this was the only one with the high speed rating. Thanks to the tool on this website, I determined that this was indeed the S/S breed, so I capped him and stoned him.

If you wondered what can beat Lil' Ragnaros, here is your answer. Put Shell Shield on while he submerges for his Sons of the Flame, the damage is entire negated. Also his filler attack, Sulfuras Smash and Magma Trap, that normally hit for 395, will only tickle you for 181, while your Dive will hit him for 850 and Ooze Touch for 310. That means he will be done in 3-4 rounds while you will be alive with 1100-1400 HP (depending on your HP and Magma Trap hits)

Update: The only snail with this abilities an a pure speed breed (260 at 25 / blue)!

The shield and absorbe spells are also strong in those battles against pandarian spirits.

Extremely Versatile and Valuable. Not only does he have a great elemental attack as his third ability (As mentioned previously vs Pandaren Earth Spirit), but you could swap that ability for Headbutt and toy with Critters with a swarm attacks.  He makes a Mockery of Aki the Chosen's cricket with his Absorb, Shell shield, and Headbutt. 

i've spend an afternoon trying to get a rare 5 breed (S/S) to no avail. best i could get was an untommon 5 or several 3 or 12's. it seems that the 5 is by far the rarest that can occur. i might just throw a flawless critter stone at my uncommon next time i get one, because finding a rare is pretty troublesome.

Having quite the trouble finding a rare in 5/15 breed ..or S/S if you will. The one I leveled is 12/22 :S Was wondering if I use a stone on a common 3/13 breed I caught, it'll not change breed, will it?

Hands down the best creature I have for dealing with the Pandaren Earth Elemental daily. Since its a critter it breaks CC fast (elemental has 2). I use Acidic Goo for the damage debuff, then the aquatic based Dive hits for over 1000 damage on a non-crit. Crits one shot the elemental. Can use the last few rounds with the elemental to fill life up with Absorb, so you go into the next pet with some health.

This guy has become one of my "go-to" pets for the Pandaren Spirit Tamers

his skill set is awesome, i was using him as a 22 rare taking out 24 beasts, which are strong to him with no issue.  This guy is sweet.

My first attempt at catching one and it was a rare...sadly I was down to my last pet and lost the fight...to a moth.  Took me a dozen attempts in the Briny Muck before I finally found another.

These show up frequently as a second or third pet in any battle near Writhingwood in Dread Wastes.  However, you will want to head over to The Briny Muck to battle one as a first, because from what I've seen, you can only catch an Emperor Crab as a second in a battle with the whelks.
