The Darkmoon Rabbit mob spawns in a cave on the Darkmoon Island, which is accessible only when the Darkmoon Faire is open. This mob is an elite raid boss that has roughly 174,454,800 health. Players will receive the achievement That Rabbit's Dynamite! after defeating the rabbit.

The Darkmoon Rabbit is a reference to the Rabbit of Caerbannog in the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

For those of you mentioning that people have been "ninja-looting" There is a way to make sure that won't happen. When joining a raid make sure that the raid leader posts in chat the loot rules. AKA: "The pet will go to the highest roller." Ask them a second time to confirm and once thats done, its a "binding contract" via WoW. A GM will at that point help you out in any claims that the item was stolen. Most likely they will do a random roll and loot it to someone that was involved with the kill.

40 level 85's quite easily took this down, though it took a good long while and most of us died at least once in the process.
I rolled a 98, someone else rolled a 99.

It's a sad day in Azeroth when 40 people get together to kill something and only one person gets rewarded.

Killed him this morning on Icecrown, first time I've ever put a raid together by spamming trade/general. First couple of attempts he reset, so we moved into the cave as far back as we could go and those he feared out came back. Took awhile because we missed so much 15,000 was top DPS. Really don't like only one person gets the pet, after a battle like that everyone deserved one!

(Rolled a 100 for this little cutie... there goes my luck for the year... *prepares to take a foot*)

Trying really hard to like this guy for pet battles, seeing how silly rare he is, I got the 4/14 pet breed, so he's a mix of great speed and decent health, which is good because he has an insane amount of speed to begin with... I open with the Dodge ability, lead into a Huge, Sharp Teeth and follow up with Burrow once Dodge wears off, so far it's useful as he's able to a mitigate a lot of damage.

For those who don't realize it, this pet comes in multiple breeds. I didn't bother to check...just assumed all were the same. Anyway, might be important for those who want the best possible breed, which is 5/15 in this case. (I'm assuming most think 4/14, 5/15, 6/16 are the best due to point distribution)

Killed the rabbit this morning... We needed 45 people to take him down, and the fight took about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, only one pet drops per kill, so we rolled for it. It's obvious that there isn't much chance for wining it when 44 other people are rolling...

Spawning times are earlier than previously noted, He was up when Darkmoon Faire went life this week in mop at 9pst sunday Then spawned again during the day sometime on Monday.  Does not spawn after server reset. **update** Happily Purchased this pet today for 40k but I feel his graphics really should be updated, he looks 2d and he needs to make an on click noise like a rabbit screech or a growl. The actual pet itself feels cheap despite his legenday status.

I was lucky to roll a 99 on this baby.
No summ of gold will force me to abandom him to the mean market people.
A pirate offered 200k gold for it, despite being the largest summ offered to me by far I could not give him away, After a good night of sleep I can now say that I'm happy, he has a good home and I can't wait to be able to train him the warrior's way. ppl go nuts over this lil rabbit.

Am I the only one annoyed by the fact only ONE of these drops? It's nice that it respawns more than once per Darkmoon Faire, but geeze. One for a group of 40? Talk about a kick in the teeth to us pet collectors. >:|

I brought mine from AH. I honestly can make 30k much faster than have a chance of putting a raid together and winning the roll.  I wish more than 1 would drop but it is what it is.

I named mine 'Super Villain"  and love it. Totally worth it.  Love the blood around the mouth detail.

I'm so pumped I just won my own.  I was pretty dejected after losing out on my last attempt with a 93 roll and the winner rolled a 94.  This time I won with only an 84 roll, go figure. So awesome to finally have him :) 

 

He's going to be my favorite critter pet, no doubt

 

Thanks for the down-vote.  I power-leveled him, and even at 13 he was able to go up against lvl 23 roaches.  Once his speed is comparable to the opponent, use Dodge, and keep the DoT up :)

It was killed Sunday night around 8 pm, then didnt spawn till wensday around 7 am, then spawned around 1 am on thursday. this is the weirdest spawn timer so far, maybe like TLPD and others where its only on one server at a time?

Ended up joining a raid for it and it disbanded because the guy wouldnt take it off master loot. So after that headache formed another group. Killed teh bunny and my hubby actually rolled and got it. I thought he was gonna sell it but he gave it to me <3 so YAY I HAVE MUH BUNNY!

I paid 35K for mine after obtaining a loan from my husband. I am on one of those servers where I will probably never see a raid for this rabbit so saving up gold for it is really the way to go. Now time to go do some dailies to pay off my debt!

Guild just finished this mini raid.  My boyfriend won the roll, currently in negotions for the rabbit lol.  Curious to see how he is as a battle pet.
