Can be found near Shardhorn Rhinos which spawn north of Nesingwary Base Camp.

Yahoo! Guildmate told me some had spawned, so I headed that way ASAP! First one (not in a tree) was common, there were two others also out of trees, I battled one, and it was a rare! I also tried a theory on one that was stuck in a tree that I read about somewhere. Use a targeting macro /tar stunted shardhorn and then once it's targetted, use the keybinding option for interacting with target. I had to circle the tree several times, but it eventually started the battle. Good luck!
Found I had to kill the Shardhorn Rhino's because the ground shaking makes me dizzy when pet battling... sigh
Still trying for a rare. Pet stuck in a tree bug seems quite common.
Sometimes one just gets lucky. I touched down here for the first time, saw the paw print, hovered over it, recognized that it was a pet I didn't have, trotted over, clicked on it and found it to be a rare and captured it. I suppose if they were all that easy, I would get bored! But I won't complain about this one!

I had to repost this, it really helps.
1. Keybind "Interact with target" to an unused key
2. Get near the trunk, write "/tar stunted"
3. Use the "Interact with target" bound key
The suggestion you left for ones stuck in trees worked like a charm! I found my rare stuck in a tree. All though they can be found unstuck as well, I have seen two more stuck in trees in the last 5 minutes.
I don't get it: there are 2 breed only, both have only 211 speed, yet, they have Horn Attack who says it have a 50% chance to make the other lose their turn IF the user is faster, but at only 211, that means only a very few pet will be slower...
First one i encountered was a rare. Just north of the nessingwary base camp.
Ge a41.16, 49.29 (tom tom) on Dalaran at 11:26am server time. First battle, shocked the you know what out of me.
I wasnt even looking for it an roaming around saw it there but some one was standing over it so i was going to leave it but after 5 mins of waiting they never took it so i trapped it then they slapped me :l
Flying around and killing mobs around the Nesingwary base camp, didn't see a single Stunted Shardhorn.. got fed up and left the place xD then i saw the paw logo on my minimap, engaged and its an uncommon stunted Shardhorn xD was at 40.27, 45.24
After 4 days, I found 2 inside the trees..used the method described by "interact with target" post and got my green one. 2nd one was poor, but at least I got one to upgrade if need be.
they seem to have fixed the tree problem. I found one guy by himself on the eastern edge of the area where the rhino's roam 1930 server time. Dalaran. Common but happy to have him
was about 5 ppl in the area killing rhino's, i was just flying around looking, got lucky and found one one the ground just outside nessingwary, grey but i have one :) good luck.
OH good GRIEF!!! I found one and got so excited entered into battle and my pets weren't at full health - so conceded and poof!!! it - of course - disappeared. ALWAYS mend pets asap....lol
Summary of solution for tree spawns:
1. Keybind "Interact with target" to an unused key
2. Get near the trunk, write "/tar stunted"
3. Use the "Interact with target" bound key
If u get an obstructed or out-of-reach mess, keep turning/moving around the tree while hitting your bound key. If u found a non-obstructed spot, stay put while hitting bound key; SSH moves inside, it'll come to u.
Can also spawn just NE of Suntouched Pillar.
I obtained a poor quality one today inside a tree. For those of you unable to engage in a battle due to obstruction, follow directions above regarding interactable buttons. If you get the obstruction message, do a 180 and face the opposite direction of the tree. This has worked a few times for me, with other pets as well as the Shardhorn. Should that fail, hop on your flying mount and spam the interact button while you fly around the tree! Happy hunting!
This little guy seems to be spawning inside the trunks of trees in Sholozar. Seems it's not just my realm, since others are having this issue too. If you're having this problem, just use /tar to target him and then bind a key to interact with him (Keybindings > Targeting Functions > Interact with Target and bind something not being used, like the period). This will allow you to battle them, assuming you don't get the dreaded "battle area is obstructed" thing. Hope that helps.
found one in the middle of a tree. had to /tar him and bind a key to be able to interact with him :). captured!
I found mine in Shoazar Basin just under that big stump looking thing the Suntouched pillar.... at 32, 57
Only one spawns in the tree the last few days and I have reported the loc as bugged, logged on at restart today (Tuesday) and had the area to mysel.
A total of about 15 spawn when I logged in at restart, otherwise you might find one or two up unless someone else is camping the area and then you are pretty much sol unless you get lucky and spot one when they are /afk.
Like a pp said, all the ones on my CRZ were spawned inside the tree trunks, and unable to be enaged in battle. So i /tar them, killed them all, and in a few minutes some new ones were spawned in better areas. Yay!
