This is for people who have locations or TomTom, I found 5 sets of spawns starting at 44, 80 and walking to 44, 74 before turning around and repeating the walk.

Second set starts at 50, 77 and swings around to 47, 71 and swings back around.

Third set starts at 46, 77 and walks to 47, 60 and swings back around.

Fourth set starts at 47, 84 and swings around to 50, 80 and walks back.

Fifth set starts at 45, 88 and walks to 46, 76 and walks back.

There might be one or two more spawn points in the zone because I found the pet but no adults (50, 52),  (44, 87) and (45, 60) but the adults wasn't up and walking around that I could find.

I tried what another post said to do and only grab the pet and leave the Barrens Giraffe adults up and wait for the pet to spawn again, I waited over a hour and 20 minutes and nothing re-spawn.

I was sound asleep last night when my dreaming was interrupted by a voice in my head that basically said, "If you want the giraffe, get up and go now."

So, I did.

At 4 a.m. CST

I didn't see any babies...but I saw a childless pair of Barrens...so I shot them (RIP). 2 minutes later, a couple spawned with a baby in tow. I FINALLY got my "little" guy (who is twice as tall as I am, 'cuz I'm a gnome). I don't care that he's "poor" quality, because to me...he's simply priceless!

There is a currently a bug with the Giraffe Calf and the flight taxi.

When you fly from Crossroads to Desolation Hold (using a flight master) you will see 5-10 of these. But when you quickly fly back to where you saw them, you will only find Prarie Dogs. I tested this multiple times and even used a few friends. I am guessing there is an issue with the phasing between the two zones. Sure made me think I was going crazy at first!

I took the advice of what a another person said, and used this macro:

/tar Dusth

/tar Giraffe

/tar Irradiated Roa

/stopmacro [noexists]

/run SetRaidTarget("target", 7)

Killed all the Giraffes I saw, and circled back around and got one! It is poor.. but I just want the pet for the time being, and I'll get around to getting Rares.

Pain in the butt to find. Had to look through 2 servers to find one, and it only spawned after killing a bunch of adult giraffes around the zone.

Found mine at 48,73 east of Desolation Hold. Was with a group of adult giraffes.

I could find none, so I killed every giraffe adult, with no small amount of guilt. A while later a calf showed up with two adults just north of Fort Triumph and I accidently killed it. A bit later two calves showed up with four adults at the Forward Command. I caught a green at least.

Today I found about SIX of these right after the server restart. 5 out of the 6 were Common, and one a Poor. I was so disappointed! I've been trying to track these guys all week.

After finding one and failing to catch it, I found a sort of system that worked well for me. Choose one area in which a few mobs spawn into. I chose the area just east of the road into Mulgore. Kill all the mobs which are not Giraffes, doing this will give a chance for more Giraffes to spawn.

Also, kill all the battle pets in the area and outside of the area. Keep in just the vicinity of your choosen spot and eventually a Giraffe Calf will spawn with one of the Giraffe mobs. Good luck!

Since patch 6.2, the spawn pattern has changed.  I have seen 2 Giraffe Calves spawn now with no adult Giraffes nearby.  (I was fighting other pets in the area when they spawned, so I know it wasn't a case of a Calf leftover after the adult died.)  It seems to be that any of the battle pet spawns in the appropriate areas has a chance to be a Giraffe Calf.

I noticed right away these little guys hang out with the Barrens Giraffe. I found it much easier with them to make a macro /target Barrens Giraffe and spam it as I flew around. When you target a group of them you'll most likely find a calf running alongside! :D

I followed someone's excellent advice about creating a DK on a low population Role Playing server. Leveled her to 60 so she could fly. It took a little time investment, but is paying off beautifully for pets such as this one and others as well (Minfernal, etc). The pets are just sitting there waiting for you to scoop 'em up!

Looked in the afternoon/evening found nothing.  At 8:06am saw 3 Barren Giraffes/2 calfs (poor/BB) in the group (wowhead indicates Barren Giraffes are found in Northen Barrens...this is not correct as these were in Southern Barrens) "wandering" from the north side of Desolation Hold (40,67) to the Horde defense barricades at Battlescar (44,66). 15 mins after captuing these 2...no other calfs spawned.  Found a solo calf at 46, 66 at 08:26 (poor/BB).  These may only spawn in morning.

Just got one at 43,43 (ish) 12:40 server time.

i dont know if it was luck or random but i killed all the giraffes i saw in the area, and not long after doing that around the vendetta height area, I got one.  Poor quality, but i'll just buy a rare upgrade for it. :D

Got one at 10 pm. This was my great white whale. I had been looking for one for at least 6 months. Got my Unborn Val'kyr in like 2 or 3 days, but this damned thing was so elusive.

Saw 2, at night, one with a lone giraffe and the other was all by himself.

On Shadowmoon I couldn't find any giraffe calves so I switched over to Feathermoon. Second group I found has two giraffe calves.  I grab one of them for battle and the companion pet is a rare Emerald Boa, my other hard to find above grey pet. GAHH!!  I decide to grab the giraffe.  After winning that battle I battle the 2nd calf and it is also a rare but with a poor Emerald Boa. Double GAH!! But I have my rare Giraffe Calf. I will continue my search for the Emerald Boa later.
