Ive collected almost every pet so now changing them into rares. I got a rare on the first one. Result :)
I just found two of these and captured both, though they are both uncommon I do believe. So I've been trying to find a good price to put them in the AH, and haven't come up with anything in my searches. Any ideas?
Flying back from Darkmoon Faire and flew over one by accident! Poor but after all the time I've spent hunting this one...I am happy!
Just found mine running with a pack of the big giraffes in the open area near Frazzlecraz Motherlode. I was autoflying along, just steering, and spamming a target macro with my eyes sort of glazed over, when I noticed as I flew that I had been targeting something that just dropped off. I sat up and flew back and found my Giraffe Calf. Poor quality, but I don't care. I don't see the point in collecting rares if you don't plan on battling with them.
I'm so happy! I found a rare at 44.8 60.3 in Southern Barrens!!! It was about 9 in the morning so I guess most night gaming no-lifers were sleeping at that time, making this an easy ctach. =)
After reading some comments here, I kinda feel like a right idiot...Why... you may ask !.. well like all of you hunting down this pet, I had just finished collecting what i needed from NBs and moved on to South.. Flew straight in and first pet i came across was a Giraffe Calf, went straight into battle.. his second was a rare i also needed.. so killed off giraffe and took the rare... At this time having NO idea how hard it was to actually get hold of one of these.. need to thk first b4 acting i reckon :)
Just after server reset found 3 giraffe calves in the fields of blood. Southern Barrens 45:43, 50:51. One a rare!
Mom flew around for a couple hours after getting hers, and found a poor for me, back when abandoning was not a safe thing to do. This is the first pet I stoned, and haven't regretted it yet, farming this sucker is quite the task.
Note: even though Barrens Giraffe, the mob these pets spawn with, are in Northern Barrens too, they do not spawn with them. Southern only =(
Just got my calf at 45.8 49 Moonrunner.
Finally! Got one. Between the ruins of Camp T and Desolation Hold there was a pair of them running north. There were no adult giraffes with them; just the pair of them running. The one I got was grey, but no matter. It still counts for the achievement. I left the other for any other pet hunter desperate to find one.
The good thing about multiple server resets? Hard to find pet resets! I have spent many hours looking for a Giraffe Calf, I found mine just north of Bael Moden immediately following a server reset, with two big Barrens Giraffes.
I found an uncommon at 5:58 Zangarmarsh server time or 7:58 am EST at 44.6 76.6 which is halfway between Desolation Hold and Bael Modan. My first try! I am stopping with this one to leave some for others. Good hunting, all! First one I saw, with several adults. I am not seeing the numbers of giraffes that were here before Cata.
3 days I tried but never could find one, finally today early morning I flew from Honor Stand to Bael Modan and ran across 1 here and their all the way to Bael. All poor and finally got 1 with his family and got a rare. I did this early morning when server isnt crowded at all and it seems to be the best time to find anything that dosent spawn alot.
Just like so many other people, I became increasingly furstrated while trying to capture this pet. I had combed the area several times a day at different times for at least a week with no luck. So, since it was a rolling restart day, I decided to wait it out. I parked my flying mount right where I saw a previous calf who disappeared, and as soon as the serves came up it was there. I got an uncommon and couldn't be happier! I got mine in the Fields of Blood near the ruins of camp Taurjo.
Found several of these today wandering alone not in a pack with other giraffes.
You have in your notes that it spawns with the Dusthoof Giraffe. That is incorrect. It is with the Barrens Giraffe. Saw lots of calves today (2/19/13) on Cenarion Circle--some with twins even! Found a rare after I got a poor one the other day on Korialstrasz!
It took me an age to find my Giraffe Calf, and I only ever managed to find a common.
Recently a beast stone dropped for me, and I had to use it on him, as he is so gosh darn cute!!

ff you are looking to farm a rare one then i would recoment you make a dk on one of the new brazil servers that have only one other server in its crz bolth servers are only few weeks old so not many firaffe calfs all over the place got my rare in about 15 min
